Have fun! Come back and tell me how much you disagree with the review I wrote a month ago. (Although in my defense, Newsweek agreed with me.)
And for those who have not yet seen the already-infamous Ellen interview, here you go (I'm sure the rest of you wouldn't mind watching it again anyway):
Vid from...of course! IHJ.

I will be seeing Rendition after work today.
I WISH I was seeing Rendition this weekend. But, no. I'll just have to wait until February. And I don't mind. No, I don't mind AT ALL. Not. At. All! Bah. :(
Ohhh sure thing I'm gonna watch Rendition this week-end...Actually I'm gonna watch it with Jake (sort of)! ;)
Jake and Reese are in Rome now:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but did you see this yet? She literally credits the Jake in '08 campaign to IHJ. I know it's not important in the grand scheme of things, but it pissed me off none the less.
Trying hard not to read any reviews yet. Can't avoid (screamingly uncreative) titles like "Unextraordinary Rendition" when you do a Google search, though. Ah, well. Chances are, the worse the reviews, the better the box office.
^^^ I just wrote her. I mean, there's not much that can be done at this point, but I worked way too hard on that to let that slide. :( But I had also been meaning to thank her personally for asking those questions, anyway, so I wasn't bitchy about it. I'm just disappointed.
Cina, FEBRUARY?!? I had no idea!
I'll be at the theatre in 6 blessed hours ! ! ! :)
Note to everyone who just had their comments deleted: If you want to talk about Jake and Reese take it to the forum. We're not discussing that here.
Thanks for the video of the Ellen-show..! How come noone is commenting on this?!! I think it is both HILARIOUS and sweet. It certainly lifted my spirits in what for me has been a very tiring day.
I think that this is my favorite interview. He was funny, sweet and sexy.He and Ellen have fun together, he can cook for me anytime!! I plan on seeing Rendition this weekend.
PS: I love how he evades the single question, LOL!!
Cina, FEBRUARY?!? I had no idea!
I KNOW!!! It's a fucking disgrace!
But I'm not bitter. Oh no...
I'll gladly gush on and on about this show, pennylane! It's not about questions Ellen asked, or didn't, and not about how sexy he looked in his t-shirt and apron. Watching him in that kitchen was like...peeking at the real Jake. He was so exuberant, so natural, immediately slipping into a commanding role, but still awestruck enough that he was cooking on tv! to comment about it, grabbing and guzzling the wine, practically dancing with Ellen as she ran back and forth....
Plus evidence of the Jake we already knew, of course, requesting Cheez Whiz just to confound everyone and then making a poo joke.
What's not to love? My only disappointment would be that it was all over so fast. *sigh*
i can't comment on the ellen interview becuz i can't watch it at work *sniff* ... hey at least i'm not like cina and i can at least go see "RENDITION" tonite (sorry cina, i'll eat a bite of popcorn for ya tho ;)) but i will definitely be watching it when i get home ... so i can say that JAKE will be waiting for me at the theatre *and* at home with some air of cockiness ! ! ! ;) hee hee 2 1/2 more hours to go ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! :-o
(sorry, i am not trying to get all excited about a movie about torture ... it's just JAKE has that effect on me, ya know ???)
I saw it. I loved it! He looked great. I have to collect my thoughts and I will be back later.
^^^ Yes! The first viewing! I can't wait to hear what you thought! ;D
Just got back...I liked it but didn't LOVE it if that makes sense. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone...so go see it! :)
Im going to the movies tonight but not to see Rendition either, i have to wait a month. Although i shouldnt complain, i really do feel bad for you Cina, that totally SUCKS!
I WISH I was seeing Rendition this weekend. But, no. I'll just have to wait until February.
You and me both, cina. GAH. It's SOO frustrating!!
I saw Rendition this afternoon with two other senior citizens, and it is terrific! We all thought so! I liked it much more than I thought I would - I thought it would be heavy handed and also gross me out. I didn't have a problem with either. Like PG, I didn't see anything to debate - seems pretty clear that rendition is a bad idea! But I was able to watch for the story. And I didn't have to close my eyes during the torture scenes, as I thought I would. Hey, CSI is worse! Also "Without a Trace" last week.
It is definitely gripping. And Jake does a terrific job, and looks -- well, to die for!
I understand the director was trying to show both sides of the issue. In that case, I think he would have succeeded better if he had made the Street character less a caricacture. As it is, it's easy to write off her whole point of view.
Thanks for the upload JW!
I needed a good laugh!
I just got back from seeing the late movie of Rendition, and I have to say it was good, but I will def have to watch it two or three more time on DVD so I can catch all the little details I missed. I am sure there are plenty of things I over looked first. But as far as Jake goes, I needed a clean pair of undies after it intro scene. My gosh, the way her grabbed that lucky heffa in the bathroom, I almost moaned in the middle of the theater!!!
Just got back a little while ago from seeing Rendition! Yay!
My thoughts:
I was BEYOND impressed with this movie. I went into it almost dreading seeing it because of all I heard about the torture, etc. And to be honest? Not a movie I'd willingly choose to go see if it weren't for Jake and Peter. However, boy am I glad they were in it and I got to see it. The movie is 2 hours long, but I didn't feel it at all. I was kept SO interested throughout. I don't want to give to much away but I will say these things:
- shirtless jake <3; "love" scenes... <3 jake in general (except his hair. dont like his hair here) <3
- peter sarsgaard once again, amazing performance. but we all know i love peter as i am the owner of the sarsysoiree. hah. look for some major postage later on this weekend.
- the cast overall was just great!
- the torture scenes, as the NY Times article said, were brutal but not unbearable to watch so if you're afraid to see it because of that, don't be. at least i wouldnt be, but idk if you are majorly sensitive to that kind of stuff, it might be tough
- it is a TINY bit hard to understand and the end is a little overwhelming so i agree w/the comment about having to watch it a few more times to totally "get" it... but i did cry at the end. so... yeah.
Just.. yeah. I was impressed and SO PROUD of Jake. I wouldnt say this is one of my favorite "Jake movies", but it's up there in my fave "Jake performances". He did a wonderful job. SO GO SEE IT IF YOU CAN! =D
I'm sorry but did I COMPLETELY MISS Maggie and Peter getting married?
^^^I think everybody did.
Yeh i noticed that too!!!
Yeah BP, everyone missed that!
Thanks for posting the video, I love Ellen and she and Jake are great together, I can definately see him gettin his on cooking show at some point!
This was my favorite interview he did this week. I will be seeing Rendition later on today, I can't wait.
oh ... my ... gosh ! how frikking adorable is Jake on ELLEN !?!? i swear i don't think i can love this man any more and then he proves me wrong ! ! !
oh and on the whole peter and maggie being married thing, i think jon stewart actually mentioned that too on his show ...
i saw rendition last night ... jake's hands had me in fits ... i love the boys hands ... the scenes with him in it were awe inspiring ... *sigh* ... i liked the movie but i am going to have to see it about 10 more times to get what i missed ... hope all of the agents have a great weekend ... even those that have to wait 'til february :(
I thought it was a little preachy but that's pretty much what I expected. All the acting was great. Jakes intro was fucking orgasmic as expected. I do wish that some of the characters would have been developed more. But with any ensemble picture time constraints will not allow for much development. I will def be going to see it again.
Just saw it... wow.
Jake, Peter, Reese and Meryl were of course FABULOUS. But the heart and soul of this film was Yigal Naor(Mr Fawal) and Omar Metwally(Anwar).... brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
There's a great - and long interview with Jake in the Telegraph at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2007/10/21/sv_jakegyllenhaal.xml&page=1
HOLY GOOBERBALL!!! check out Jakes page on INMB they have another movies listed, Jake on the moon!!!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1123441/
Ambra Hollywood
Awesome! I had a look and it seems the executive producer for the bourne series is one of the producers. Interesting! I still think its a little dodgy with the title of "untitled moon project" lol
make that the director!! He did Mr and Mrs smith too, i loved that movie!
did anyone else think he seemed a bit tipsy? or was that just me....lol

GREAT interview! Thank you dottieb! =)
I saw Rendition last night nad thought that it was a good, not great film.
Great cast (although I thought Meryl was channeling her role from The Manchran Candidate here)and Jake was wonderful , but I thought the standout was Omar Metwally.
A bit preachy at times but overall a good film don't want to say anythng further due to spoiler. I give it 3 stars.
After watching it a second time yesterday afternoon, I finally posted my opinion on my blog last night. Then I came back to re-read PG's review, including the spoilery part I had to skip before. Seems we basically had the same reaction to the movie, though I'm not sure I perceived a hammer-to-head preachiness about it. In fact I'm still not sure why I felt detached from everyone, except that there was too much happening in too little time (and I don't think audiences could tolerate this film if it were any longer, either). I was impressed with Yigal Naor, because he had a tough role and handled it beautifully, but I think we could have gotten more from him given a different structure. Just like I thought we should have had more with Anwar (Omar Metwally was terrific in his surprisingly few scenes). I know the intellectual argument for why the story was presented this way--to include the impact on all parties at the human level of such a practice--but that may just have been too ambitious a goal. But I couldn't have been more proud of Jake for what he did with Douglas Freeman. Matt Damon has nothing but box office on our boy.
