PROJECT BLOGLIGHT

Who can remember the ancient legends of Jake Watch?

Well, if you can't I'll refresh your memories. britpopbaby was a lowly English student, beavering away at University under the pretence that a degree might actually result in some semblance of a career. How wrong she was! Her final coursework loomed heavily over her when an almighty bout of writer's block struck her weary mind (read: lazy mare). In order to overcome this creativity bump she started Jake Watch, in the hope that a few months of mindless rabbiting about some distant Hollywood actor would drive her back on course. How wrong she was!

Anyhoo, when the degree was done and forgotten about, all britpopbaby had left writing wise was Jake Watch, and whilst this wass good in one way, it was bad in many others. As much as britpopbaby loves Jake and would like to share a smoothie with him, he's not helping her out with her envied J.K.Rowling-esque career. So, britpopbaby is going back to writing non-Jake Gyllenhaal related things and she has coerced Prophecy Girl into joining her.

Our new blog is called 'Pink Flamingos' and it will be updated a couple of times a week with whatever strikes us at the time. You can read it here: http://pinkf.blogspot.com. Please stop by and leave us a comment because we know you love us and you're not really that interested in Jake Gyllenhaal, you just come here because you're actually stalking us.

You just about gave me a freaking heart attack! I thought you were going to say that you were both finished writing about Jake! Oh, what a relief to learn that you're only expanding your coverage to include whatever's left of life that doesn't in some way involve Jake (this concept eludes me, but I'm pretty sad). Blessings and much luck in your latest endeavor, ladies! I will definitely be checking it out.

Bookmarked! ;)

And me Cherita, this is the only place I come to get my Jake fix.

I agree with CMC. I can think of little in life worth remarking on that isn't about Jake. If you feel compelled in this regard, I will certainly support your "journey." I know you will both come to realize how empty the rest of the world is with no Jake. Bet you're angry bcz you feel left out by not going to those ten minute Britney concerts. Well.I have to say: You girls make sure you get your chores done 'round here before you go traipsing off clubbing with Paris, or whomever.Or you'll be grounded. This is no empty threat. You'll be locked in a closet with Jake...if I can't persuade you, maybe he can knock some sense into you! But really. I'm fine with this.

FREAKY FRIDAY! Yikes - I was scared you were going to say you were finished writing about Jake, too, and I would have joined cherita in the freakin er! er... you will be continuing to write about Jake, won't you? [anxious face here]

PHEW!!!

I, too, felt a clutch of amazing fear that you were going to end the blog - no sock watch? no boo postcards? The horror, the horror!

I am quite pleased to know that not only are you not leaving Jake Watch, you're going to add more of your brands of humor and insight to the world!

Hooray!

jeez.... I come home from a hard day at work, and read what I initially thought was a pink slip for Jake Watch. I almost cried!

I am happy beyond words that JW is still alive and kicking, and am looking forward to the new blog.

I tried to access Jakewatch.com and it brought me to some ad for watches with some GIRL model.

I was going to have a kniption! Luckily I had another link to the blog. whew

Good on you two, I am behind you 60%. Now on the subject of BBM, do you know when we can look forward to reading Aneka's awesome movie review? I don't know about anybody else, but I have been looking forward to it for months already!

I've always enjoyed your writing styles (I think you complement each other beautifully)whether or not the topic is Jake, so I'm pleased to see you are expanding the brand, as someone else said.

...when we can look forward to reading Aneka's awesome movie review?

What she said...unless Anneka's gone to rehab. I hear all the artistically gifted people are doing it now.

Near heartattacks are not good news for someone of my advanced years, but yeah, Jakewatch lives on - will bookmark your other blog as well as I love both your writings.

I'd already had a panic with regards jakewatch, logging on at work I used the jakewatch.com address and got the watch thing as well, for a few horrible moments I thought you'd gone - thankfully google is my friend.

I'll bookmark the Pink Flamingo blog, Brit and PG: You two are funny as hell and so talented, this new blog is a geat idea.

PS: I have to reset this site to jakewatch@blogspot.com, watches??LOL!!!

Yeah, we've had a slight incident with the domain name but you can still find us via the blogspot address.

Anonymous said...

BPB. maybe the "incident" was a sign. Shhh! Just stay here where it's safer....pay no attention to the pink flamingoes gathering out in the playyaryd children....just sing....

Jake and Austin

Branching out is great news BPB and PG! Creative minds need space, variety and stimulation. It’s a good thing that you are aiming for a balanced mix of Jake and non-Jake creative outlets, somebody has to stay sane around here! Just don’t forget to feed us our daily JW fix or we’ll die ;-)

Also, I second/third the call for an Anneka comeback. I will send the appropriate postcard if necessary...

Anonymous said...

I wasn't aware that Anneka went anywhere to come back from!!! All this time I pictured her locked in a tiny windowless room with the proper lighting and her computer and stuff and a DVD player so she could do her film reviews.

The pictures from buzzphoto tell me that Jake looks at tabloids. We know he operates a computer. So maybe Jake is aware of JW....and maybe he is beginning to appreciate how really important it is for him to have shower scenes in all his films.

Anonymous said...

The pictures at buzznet show me it was Jake and friends not only Austin.

I saw the series& you're absolutely right. It should have read Jake & friends. That one taller guy with the orange "B" on his cap looks familiar. Actor, director, producer, writer????? Love to know the title of the trade paperback Jake was holding up.He was smiling&clearly hell bent for mischief! Another set of recent pics made me very angry. Beautiful spring day in Brooklyn, Maggie & two friends, one also with baby, out walking at the waterfront park. They stopped, spread a blanket, maybe a picnic lunch, or just lazing around visiting. Maggie had to nurse Ramona. What should have been an intimate moment btwn moms and babies and friends was papped. It was truly vile. Maggie looked sad.

It is clear he is with other friends as well. Not lots of people

I was talking about Jake and Austin at basketball game pics.

GREMLINS!!

Anonymous said...

^^^ Drugs are bad! LOL

welliwont said...

begone gremlins! back to your cave.

Anonymous said...

Everytime Jake does something with his guy friends, the gremlins come out! I will not acknowledge them or respond to them. If you ignore them...or delete them, they will go away. Personally, I like deletion. I'm feeling agressive and mean tonight.

britpopbaby said...

I'm confused. I don't see a gremlin. I'm also highly confused by what anon 2.54PM said too.

OT: Interview with Jake from the Scotsman. It was done back in Feb. when he was in the UK for the Bafta's.

call me cherita said...

^^^Thanks a heap!

Anonymous said...

(sigh!) I really love interviews Jake does that are with foreign publications. They're so well done as compared with the tiresome, formulaic stuff we get in the US.

The Chemistry Guru said...

I did see gremlins but now I see no gremlins. Weird. (and good riddance)

Thanks for the link to the interview, but er..Jake thinks Justin Timberlake is a promising actor of his generation? Did I miss something?

Anonymous said...

^^^ Alpha Dog?

The Chemistry Guru said...

One role does not a generation's most promising actor make.
But I could be wrong, Jake's the professional and I haven't seen Alpha Dog yet. In fact I don't think it has been released in the UK.

welliwont said...

I saw them too BPB, I swear! I would also like to learn how they deleted their Anonymous posts. Hmmmm...

call me cherita said...

kokodee, I'm in the US and I've never heard of Alpha Dog. Then again, as it apparently in no way involves Jake himself, this is not terribly surprising. But I also found the mention of that particular name in company with Jake and Ryan Gosling to be rather disturbing. It makes me wonder if once again an interviewer has let one of Jake's more subtle jabs go right past her/him.

cina said...

I have to say I was surprised by that too. You may be right Cherita, but on the other hand it's not like Jake to mock or make fun of other people in interviews like that, is it? I'm honestly confused. LOL

Anonymous said...

JT got some good critis for "Alpha Dog" and "Black Snake Moan". Perhaps Jake has seen the films and liked his perfomance. I cannot believe that he would make fun of a colleagues work in an interview.
I haven´t seen JT films so I am not able to judge.

KayDee said...

Are we going to see a Prophecy Girl's Socks Watch and Britopobaby's Multitasking Talents?

call me cherita said...

Cina and carla, you have good points. And no, I haven't seen him act at all, so what I said was speculation based on my limited knowledge of him as a, um, what? Does he still sing or something? I dunno. Maybe, like "Marky" Mark Wahlberg (IMO--who knew?), he really is talented after all, and was just masquerading as a bit of celebrity fluff.

Have visited pinkflamingo recently and two other ladies (and I use the term advisedly) were claiming authorship for its contents. Now it may very well be they were into the gin far more than is practical when writing ruminations and commentaries. Or they were smoking or otherwise consuming something hallucinogenic. Nonetheless, I found their musings amusing in a Lewis Carroll/John Lennon sort of way. It must be something in the water across the pond in the UK.
Well done. Next time I read it, I'll read it for its deeper meaning! LOL! Was laughing too hard during the first two run throughs.
