Believe me - there's nothing that can freak me out after today. Having my hard drive totally wiped out freaked me out enough for the rest of the year. Believe me - it's amazing I'm still alive. I lost everything. EVERYTHING!!!
^^^Cina, NO! What happened? Did it just crash, or were you working with some kind of program that killed it? That's horrible news...oh, wow, you just reaffirmed my decision to stop skipping my weekly backups. And I don't even have anything of real value on my computer. My condolences, seriously!
I was in the process of transferring some photos from my cell phone to my computer when it just.... crashed, for some reason (to make a long story short). I'm not kidding when I tell you it almost gave me a heart attack.
Anyway - thanks Cherita. It's absolutely horrible, but I guess I'll live. *sigh*
Sorry for ranting about my personal stuff here. I'll stop now.
Right, back on topic. Love the new banner (though I loved the old one, too). Nothing like having those eyes on me while I prattle away about him. Do you think this will help me control my more prurient urges when posting?
"Friday night in Los Angeles and hunky Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted by our spy in the bushes buying books at Boner's Bookstore with a couple of pals (who we won't mention because they're just no use to this story, and they are not Reese).
The manager of Boner's, Bernard Boner III told us that: "Jake was asking which book beautiful Reese Witherspoon would like" our panting spy reports that Jake had a tough decision between Easter Egg Edd and The Tales of Woe and I Got Away By The Skin Of My Teeth, a romance novel based on a bistro owner and his double life as a blow-up sheep salesman.
Jake's pals told him to go for the latter, because it'd surely bring a smile to Reese's face.
"She has been needing a laugh for a long time" says a pal of the pal the source, "she's been so upset by the Jennifer Aniston incident that she's barely stopped crying. She's literally gone through 486 boxes of tissues since last Tuesday."
We're hoping Jake's choice of novella will Book Reese up!"
Cina, is the HDD still working? If it is, then you can still recover data yourself (there are many data recovery software around), just don't do anything to the HDD like saving new data or install new software on it. If the HDD failed, then it's a professional job I'm afraid.
My hard drive died last September and I almost jumped out a window.(2 story bldg., but still...) I brought it to a story noted for its "Geek Squad." They saved all my pics and video clips, but I lost all my word document files. I had important stuff on those files I lost. So was I all happy and relieved when they returned my Jake pictures and my Jake video clips intact???? Priorities! Since then, I back everything up to disk so I won't go crazy as my four year old computer limps along. Cina, consider yourself hugged. I truly feel your pain.
Thanks for your sympathy everybody! I went to the company where I bought my computer, and they basically told me to re-install the hard drive with my back-up cd:s that came along with the computer when I bought it. I'm afraid all my pictures, music etc is lost and I just have to accept it. Right now I'm just glad my computer is working again. From now on, I am going to make back-up copies of important stuff regularly... Again, thanks for your hugs and kind words. It helps a little! :)
Cina, if your HDD is still working, then the company people tell you wrong if you want to save your data. Get a new HDD, put you old HDD as the slave drive, then install the operating system and a data recovery software. All your files should still be there, but they are simply not seen. If you install a new OS on the old HDD, then you will overwrite the data, so you'll definitely lose the data.
There are also companies online which offer free diagnosis to see if data will be recoverable (i.e. you only pay if the data is recoverable). If your data is not important, then it is probably not worth the bother.

I think I'm still in shock.

i like the new look! and it loads easier! thanks britpopbaby!
^^^ we are not impressed by the story. we could live happily wthout having read it.
What's with the gremlins and jeese obsession?
Sigh.
Cina, that's terrible. Hope you get your stuff back, I'm sure there must be a way.
Cina if you tried calling the company that sold you the PC and arrange to have a diagnostic carried out you'll be suprised at what can be recovered.
Or will it make things worse?
Much worse. I'm willing to bet.
cina, I am so sorry to hear about your hard drive disaster..... what a mess! My sympathy goes out to you.
On a much happier note, I LOVE the new banner for the Forum. That pic of Jake has always done wonderful things to my girlie parts (I'm blushing)!

I like your creativity Anon 10.56 PM. Blow-up sheep salesman - inspired!
Sorry to hear about your computer problems, cina!

I love this picture of Jake!!! One thing. I like it when he's very hairy...and that line that goes down his chest, past his stomache and then...
That pic of Jake...
*heartattack*
Cina, sweetie, I hope you're feeling better today! You know where to find me if you need more help!
