I feel shitty for posting this now, as so many are still reacting to Jake's rather sudden plunge back into the world of Celebrity PDA. The post below is not in reaction to any one thing and has, in fact, been scheduled for this date for nearly 3 months now and was written many days ago. So in spite of, not because of, anything else going on right now, we're posting exactly as we originally intended...
***
Hmmmm. Have you ever wondered what life would be like with no Jake Watch?
Well, we have. And as hard as it is for both us for tell you this, you're going to get the chance to experience a Jake Watch-free existence sooner than you might think. When? Well, we'd rather not say. We don't want this to turn into a big countdown, but instead, we're going to continue posting as usual until our predetermined end date...which is pretty damned soon.
We know this seems sudden, but it's been in the works now for quite a long time. The generic "after Rendition" time period has been kicking around for about 6 months, and the actual date for at least three. The "why?" of it all is very complicated, but perhaps to your surprise, one reason directly involves our biggest undertaking ever...and yes, it is directly related to Jake and Jake Watch. Yes, there have been some rough times and yes, we are by and large completely baffled by what has become of the majority of the fandom lately (Jake Watch readers are naturally excluded from this assessment), but a certain celebrity father once told me, "It's all about learning!" We'll talk more about that in a minute, but that's exactly what this blog has been for us: a learning experience, and one that was never intended to continue indefinitely.
We will keep the forum and the store open, and all the MySpace pages will remain active (like we'd let Jake in '08 go!). The only major change will be that the blog will no longer be updated. Which, OK, is pretty major. But we feel that at this juncture, our time and energy are best spent not writing new posts, but working towards new goals, ones which we plan on sharing with you and ones which will continue to involve the britpopbaby/Prophecy Girl collaboration.
In the interest of full disclosure, we do have a couple of things to share with you...
First of all, our biggest disappointment, by far, is that we never accomplished what this blog was originally created to do, which was to give us some semblance of professional credibility, ultimately with the goal of interviewing Jake. We tried very, very hard for you guys, through every avenue we could think of. We went from being to ignored to being rejected (harshly) to being ignored again, with a lot of other being ignored's in between. That was supposed to be our "thank you" for your support over the months and the fact that we never got even remotely close has been disappointing to the point of discouraging. In fact, originally, Jake Watch was going to exist only until we got an interview, but unfortunately, over time, it became clear that our efforts in that arena were going to be fruitless no matter what our methods. So there's that hanging over us, and also the "Jakes and Ladders" board game which, after two months, we just couldn't seem to finish.
Secondly, I, personally, need to address the poetry reading incident because I know there is still some confusion and tension surrounding that. Contrary to popular belief, I did get over it. I made peace with the fact that I was an idiot/misinformed going into the situation and was an idiot/comatose while standing there and listening to stuff that I should have protested against. But I moved on and accepted that I couldn't change what happened. However. Just when I thought things were over....I received an e-mail from Stephen about a month ago regarding that night. Yes, it shocked the hell out of me, too. Despite the fact that it came 11 months late, it was obviously heartfelt and so I wrote him a very genuine thank you e-mail and requested his permission to share with you what he had written to me (considering "asking for permission" is what started this whole mess, I wanted to cover my bases). He did not write me back. And for that reason, I cannot tell you that he thanked us for Ramona's gift and promised to tell Maggie, Peter, and Ramona about it and also apologized for his behavior the night of the reading even though he admittedly had no recollection of what happened. So...you didn't hear that from me.
So once again, I'd like to put that behind us. Jake Watch has been a full education, for both of us, on so many levels, and we are better people for it. When britpopbaby started this site 19 months ago, the concept of a blog devoted to a single celebrity was virtually unheard of. Now, blogs about Jake alone are a dime a dozen. I don't say that to negate the value of these other blogs (there are some great ones out there!), but rather to say that we recognize that we've done what we needed to within this medium for the time being. No matter what came before or comes after us, we can both be proud of the fact that there has never been anything even remotely like this site for any other celebrity. I am not even lying when I say that I am frequently stunned by our combined creative output. I don't care how self-congratulatory that makes me sound. Most people who get paid to be creative don't churn out stuff at the volume we have. But we never intended to continue at that rate forever.
So that's it. You'll know the final post when you see it. Considering it'll be 2009 before Jake's next movie, you could always start at the beginning of Jake Watch and read the year away. Who knows? We might be back. ;)
We'd also like to stress that this isn't really the end of anything, but more like a chance for us to take a new direction. We're not abandoning ship; we're growing.
We would also like to thank you for reading and supporting us all this time. We appreciate each and every person (OK, most each and every person) who came to see what we had to offer and we certainly appreciate, more than we can say, those of you who have become regular readers.
I know "thank you" doesn't exactly equal an interview with Jake, but you know what? Looking back at what we've accomplished, I think we made it alright without him. :)

THANK YOU!!!
And thank GOD for e-mail, Facebook and MySpace so that we can still keep in touch.
I know it's not over yet - but I still have to say: WOW, it's been one hell of a ride... *sob*
Wow, this makes me feel way more sad than Jake's sudden return to PDA. Honest.
But I definitely understand that a break (or an end) was long overdue and it was...unexpected yet somehow expected...
I want you both BPB and PG to know that you have all my esteem and support and that you'll always have.
I will miss your humour an craziness so much.Thank you for everything.
I'll keep an eye on the blog and keep on updating the forum untill I'll fel like doing that.
Love. Xenia
*cries*
Like Cina said.... THANKYOU! Ive said it numorous times that its not Jake that brings me here its BPB, PG and all of you that do. So what if we didnt get a Jake interview, we got 18 months (or so) of awesome blogging (about an okay topic ;) ) but for me i also got a bunch of great new friends. And by the sounds of things, the awesome blogging wont be ending (but maybe just on another topic) and i like to think the friends will still be there, no matter what. You've done a great job guys, and im so proud of you for following your gut feelings and going with your heart. You have my support 100% Thankyou again! xoxox *HUGS TO EVERYONE*
Well it has most certainly been one hell of a ride, highs and lows; with near misses and couldn’t be further from the target if you tried’s (all in a good way of course).
You know my views on the way the fandom has been headed over the last few months, and as I have said to you personally, although no longer being a regular contributor to the blog or forum, I have continued to read avidly. The irreverent humour was the initial hook for me and never changed, despite whatever [insert scandal]-gate may have been in progress.
So yes, I am sorry that you will be focussing your efforts away from here, but I am pleased that you have taken the whole experience as one of growth – and I sincerely hope that whatever your new ventures maybe, that the style of those ventures reflect that which can only be described as true Jake Watch.
I salute your creativity, dedication, persistence and endurance – qualities that you should be proud of.
And in the vein of “adopting” titles, I’ll take one from the final season of Star Trek TNG: All Good Things…
"I think we made it alright without him"
You certainly did BPB and PG, I love this blog and will miss it when you finish. It is so different to the other ones and strikes a nice medium (if you get what I mean).
"I am not even lying when I say that I am frequently stunned by our combined creative output. I don't care how self-congratulatory that makes me sound. Most people who get paid to be creative don't churn out stuff at the volume we have"
Too right-you've been hilarious!
I don't usually post here (basically because I don't have anything clever to say other then "LOL!") but I never miss a post.
You have been amazing! you manage to amuse and entertain us in every post, and I'm glad that this PG\BPB won't stop here, because you two are geniuses. Thank you so much for this great time!;_;
*About to cry, damn these hormones*
(and sorry for my bad English:\)
Wow. That is such a bummer, but I get it, too. I know I haven't posted in dog's age (bad Vx3!), but thank you to both of you for this blog - it appeared on the scene exactly when we all needed it, and has been a treasure. I will definitely miss it!
Veeveevee (I can't remember my damn google password!)
Thank you SO much for everything, you guys! You're amazing!! Even great things must come to an end, and I'll be so sad to see this blog go! It's been my happy place.
Okay, before I start crying here, and since it's not over just yet, I'd better leave it at that for now..
*big hugs*
Oh, I have to add that thanks to you guys, I have met three great girls that were "just" online friends at first, but that I now am happy to be able to call my real friends: Phoebe, Agnes and Linna. That's all thanks to you guys and this wonderful blog! How about that, huh? =)
I would just like to say THANK YOU. Thanks for your hard work and creativity. I cannot wait to see what you are going to do next. Just know that everything you have done has been enjoyed and appreciated.
#1 So very glad to hear that Stephen G wrote to you. That makes me feel better. #2 We will miss you so much!!! Thanks for all you do / have done...
About time. I think WFT should follow next.
Oh, I have to add that thanks to you guys, I have met three great girls that were "just" online friends at first, but that I now am happy to be able to call my real friends: Phoebe, Agnes and Linna. That's all thanks to you guys and this wonderful blog!
Aww sweetie!! *hugs cina tight* You just made me cry.. Good tears, though! Love ya, girl! And Agnes and Linna too!
I've made friends for life here, and for that I'll always be very grateful.
I just wanted to say thank you for 19 months of pure unadultrated hilarity. I kinda knew this was coming if not when; but rest assured that your wit and humour will be sorely missed.
Please do keep us informed of any future ventures bar this post.
Gosh, I can't believe how sad I am, and I haven't posted in ages!
KOKODEE
I would say the end is pretty seriously nigh.
Please indulge me if you would.
That's okay. I don't wanna go. I'm just gonna go home, lie down
and listen to country music. The music of pain. ;-)
And THAT pretty much sums it up.
THANK YOU!!! You guys rock!!
I have to say, we did MORE than alright without him, ‘cause when it come to JW, you guys are the Chosen Two ;-)
It's been awesome, and you've never seized to amaze me with your humour and creativity, making sure to always put a smile on my face whenever I stop by here, I'll miss it - I'll miss YOU!!
You should take pride in the work you’ve done, and the fact that you were groundbreaking in this medium. Not that that is the only thing that makes JW so remarkable, but still!! And what’s more, personally, without JW, I’d have less friends today than I do now, and for that I’ll be eternally grateful *waves to Phoebe, Cina, Agnes and PG*
Good luck with everything you do in the future!!
*BIG HUGS*
A real shame. With Hotmail, IMDB, Perry Bible Fellowship and the Mount St Helens Volcano Cam, you were right there on my 'visit every day' list.
"I think we made it alright without him"
You proved a Jake-free Jake could be a wonderful thing.
Thank you! All of you. Well, not 5.25. Hello? Don't you know that Jake and Austin had their secret love child this week?! If WFT went away, where we go to learn how fake Jeese is???
Seriously, though, even though I knew this was coming, and know that it needs to happen, it's still really hard for me. It was much more difficult to write this post than I though it would be. In fact, (for Felicia), "On a scale of 1 to 10, it sucked."
I can't even say how much I've enjoyed doing this and how much you guys mean to me. But like I said in the post, it's not really the end of anything (even though it sort of feels like it). Hugs all around! :)
^^ *hugs PG back* You're awesome, my friend! :-)
I'm going to save my tears for the final post... *sob*..
PG & BPB: You both are talented and funny and I'm glad to hear that you are not giving up blogging becasue that would be a real shame. I'll look forward to any thing you two come up with.
I'm happy to hear that you will be keeping the forum ,shop and all the Myspaces up and I will do my bit to help update the forum!
I felt too that a break or ending was coming soon, it must be exhausting. Just to let you know i appreciated all the hard work you two put into this blog and your posts will be missed.
PS: I'm glad you didn't give I final date, I hate countdowns!
Wow, this makes me feel way more sad than Jake's sudden return to PDA. Honest. I agree Xenia. :(
I have to throw in my thank you too...I love this place and no one does celebrity satire quite like BPB and PG. I was a lurker forever and just recently started posting in the blog and forum, I wish I would have started sooner! :) Of course this makes me sad, but I wish you two the best. I'm not just a fan of Jake, I'm a fan of BPB and PG too...both of you have my full support on any future endeavors!
Lots o' hugs to ALL of you! Muah!
(((( PG ))))
You know you're my friend too - although we've never met in person. What would I have done without you at certain times?? I would probably have gone crazy. Someday, we ARE going to have that drink dude!! ;)
Wanted to throw in my heartfelt thanks too. I used to post here as lot (as wtbgirl), haven't done so in forever, but always kept reading. Thanks so much for your humor and wit!
WTBGIRL
you guys have all been a blessing, good luck in the future, and hope one day you'll return,
your hard work was ever in vain! congratulations on everything!
Ashley
PG, you are a very creative, very talented writer. Some of the very best laughs I've ever had in cyberspace have come courtesy of this blog. But I know it is an exhausting, demanding undertaking. I've been trying to deal with my own blog....boring political essays but very well written and o0ften humorous. LOL!!! (!) and It has taken every ounce of discipline I possess to post at couple of times a month! (Which reminds me...It's not August anymore, is it?) I am glad you aren't going to go way and disappear into cyberspace. But a really do understand the necessity for change, much as I try to resist it. I'm glad I was physically present for the MOMENT when you and Jake finally locked eyes, and you told him you had JW and he said, "Wow. Great!" and other things as well. It's been a great ride.
And BRITPOP!! You're the one who started this phenomenon - you should be proud! I will never forget your hilarious posts about Agents in Action, the missing street sweeper (did we ever find it, btw??), the Seagull of Malevolence, Jake Watch's exclusive "interview" with Jake ("Jake strokes leaves of nearby pot plant" - LMAO!!!), Jake complaining to Maggie about Heath killing his Tamagotchi... I could go on and on and ON really!
THANK YOU!!! =) (((( BPB ))))
Sorry, that should be PETER killing Jake's Tamagotchi, not Heath.
Sorry about that, Heath... ;)
Good luck PG and Brit!! Having watched this blog from the beginning I truly appreciate the hard work you all put into it. It will be missed in the chaos that sometimes is fandom. And I am feeling a bit emotional thinking about that. Anyway, I hope the forum will still be a place to connect. :)
I will never forget your hilarious posts about Agents in Action, the missing street sweeper (did we ever find it, btw??), the Seagull of Malevolence
OMG those are two of my absolute favorites!! LMFAO!! Awesome posts, britpop!
Say it isn't so!!!!
I've enjoyed this site the best of all Jake's blogs. It will be HIS loss, whether he appreciates it or not.
I'm sad that I won't have this delightful blog to visit anymore on my morning rounds of the Internet goofing off on the job. Ladies, your wit & resourcefulness was much appreciated. I knew you couldn't continue with your unrequited efforts forever. I mean, being a 24-hour unpaid Web content provider can't be easy. But you honed many varied skills, which may serve you even better one day, you made some friends, had some adventures, and earned the love & respect of many readers. You got an audience, a following, even! So, even if Jake's representatives couldn't care less, I'm glad you can step back & see just how much you've accomplished. Also, you've kept me from descending into the blackest cynicism sometimes. Hell, I still like looking at the boy -- he's such a beauty -- but I feel I've learned a lot about the star-making machinery surrounding him while following all of your escapades -- things I wish I didn't know. I wish you ladies all happiness in your future endeavors.
*sniff* What everybody else said. I haven't been around much and suddenly it's like OMG all my buddies are here and I miss all of you already.
britpopbaby you fuckin' rock and I mean it girl. Prophecy Girl, if you had gotten paid for any of this work, you would be RICH.
Unfortunately things usually end with a whimper and not a bang, but I say starting an International Jake Rumor was far better than a Jake interview anyway. After all, we know what he's going to say. ;)
Thanks is inadequate but I don't what else to say. Thanks to all the moderators, too. Love Coffeecat33
The first time I visited this blog and read BPB's posts I thought the whole thing was hilarious. I loved the fact that it wasn't your run of the mill 'ooh isn't he lovely' fansite but was done with fantastic humour that actually had me guffawing out loud. And then PG came along. And the laughs just kept coming. I've maintained a website before and it really takes a lot of time and effort and so like everyone else on here, I want to say a big thank you to you both and everyone else who contributes as this is one of those sites that's at the top of my favourites list and gets checked every day I use my computer.
End of an era, but we have to move on. It was great while it lasted, nah, not great, genius! :-))
I'm truly sad. I love the writing here, Paparazzi Bingo was the most brilliant joke (and each square "happened" thanks to the easter pics with the chocolate rabbit), the voting entry was great as well ("in the US, where religion never interferes with politics...)
I will miss your humor, and your spin on whatever jake news is out there.
The best thing about jakewatch is that I think Jake would find it humorous as well.
Well done ladies!!
Bye bye Jake Watch; BPB and PG, thanks for the many many laughs. Good luck to both of you in whatever you do. We'll all be watching and waiting with baited breath.
Thanks everyone for their kind words. I think PG has said it all but to underline one of the main reasons we had to move on is we predict Jake being out of the spotlight for some time now, leaving us with zilch material.
But in typical fashion, just as we do our pre-prepared dying swan act, he shows up and makes it all about him. Damn you, Gyllenhaal! Damn yoooooooooooou!
He'll just never leave us be to have 'our moment'. That's what you get working with actors.
ROFLMAO BPB, God I will miss this you when finish.
Well.
I'm not going to say much...I'm waiting until I can get my thoughts together and my emotions under control.
However, Cherita and I are hangin' out this weekend, and I have told her what's happening. We're both going to post eventually.
Meanwhile, we love you, PG & Brits, and thank you for being here!
*Cherita waves from the distance, wiping a tear from her eye*
I just wanted to say thanks for the laughs. You guys are great and this was one witty and funny blog. Initially I came here to read about Jake, but that flame died down awhile ago, so I was just coming for the humor. I hope you'll continue blogging in some other form. I'll definitely keep reading. :)
I'll miss you so much, even though I haven't been around lately I do read this blog regularly to have a laugh and to keep me updated on all the relevant Jake news ;)
If you only knew how much this blog have given me, thank you BPB and PG.
And as Cina said, without this blog I never would've met Phoebe, Cina and Linna in RL...
*Hugs all around*
In the immortal words of Bill Murray when his girlfriend broke up with him in some random movie I used to like: "You can't go!!!! All the plants are gona die!!!"
Hey BPB and PG,
I was an avid reader and sometime poster in the first six months of JakeWatch, and I check in whenever I have the chance nowadays. My interest in Jake has peaked and troughed in that time but Jake Watch always amused me regardless. That's why I know the two of you will go on to create something really damn cool post-JW. Your creative output is really impressive and has got sharper and smarter over time. I'm looking forward to whatever comes next :)
J xx
Well said anon 11:22.
You get me hooked and then you pull the rug out from underneath me. :)
Thanks for all the laughs girls. It has been a great ride. I have met so many great people and for that I will be forever grateful. I will do my best to help keep the forum going and I will be looking forward to your next venture.
You'll have to excuse me I think that I am really gonna cry.
Hey, you darlins! You are brilliant! And have a brilliant future, sure enuff - I felt a bit guilty feeling lucky enuff to witess this!
I like what one of us said: I fell off the roller coaster, threw up, and now have found a clean place on the grass to keep an eye on whats goin' on.
I think it's time for all of us to move on! But just sayin' = you guys have provided a really valuable side glance at the career of the hot tamale JG - there are times when JakeWatch was the only place kept me sane and in place!
Most of all - you're funny as hell!
I don't comment here very often, mainly because there are only so many times and ways I can say ROFL. But ROFL is exactly what I do every time I read this blog, so I'll be sad to see it go:( To paraphrase ABBA, thank you for the laughter;D
I do not know which hurt worse, reading this, or seeing the pic of Jake and Reese Holding hands ...
:*( I am going to cry now
AMbra Hollywood
This breaks my heart, but I'll always have the archives to keep me smiling. My love of Jake Gyllenhaal has significantly waned, but my love of this blog has only grown. I think the fact that I don't really give a crap about the guy and yet I continue to check this blog each and every day should be an attestament to how much I love your work. The two of you are incredibly witty and clever, and your creativity shines in every post you've done. You all better keep us informed of what these new endeavors are about -- I don't care if Jake is involved, I just want my PG and BPB humor!
BTW, this is making me WAY more sad than any PDA of Jake and Reese could ever make me.
I'm going to miss you guys...*sob*
I want to thank you for all the Jake-centric entertainment you have given us on Jake Watch over the past 19 months. I adore this young man, find him a gorgeous and talented actor, and will continue to be fascinated by all information, interviews, and news about him. This blog has been so much fun; it's been fabulous and I thank you for it! I will never get enough Jake so if you should ever desire to start posting to it again-- all the better for us. Best always,
Lynn
I'm sad now, I really love this site. Oh well.. I´ll miss BPB and PG humour, craziness, and miss the others too.
Thank you for everything. see ya around.
Well, this is sad news. I am truely going to miss this blog when the time comes for it to officially end. I have been a big fan of it and not necessarily because of Jake. I have been coming here since it's very first days and I have enjoyed every minute of it. BPB and PG, you ladies are amazing and I look forward to see what you are going to do next. I am an avid supporter of you ladies and your hard work. I appreciate everything you have done and all of the hard work. Please keep us informed on what your next project is... I hate to miss out on your awesome talents.
Thank you for all the laughs! I visit this blog everyday and it's gonna be hard when it is over but like that famous saying goes... "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"
Love you gurls,
Shamrock
Hey Brits, PG.
This was my first blog. I have read every post. You guys kept me sane and laughing during some tough times in my life over the past 18 months. Your style, wit, creativity and unerring ability to keep it real are unmatched.
My life is about to move on significantly in the next few weeks. Feels like the wind of change is blowing.
Brits are you finally going to do that Russell Brand blog? That would be a hoot. Bet you would get an interview out of him. In fact I bet you would get more than that out of him ;-)
PG you were my first American online friend. I have loved the direction you were going in from the moment we connected. And one day he will be President, you just gotta believe girl!
I came because of Jake, but I stayed because of you two and all the other lovely people I met here (Cina, Phoebe, Ged, NRM, Roco, Simon, Nice Anon, Agnes, Linna, TBL, everyone else I missed- should never do lists, always miss someone essential).
Lots of love and good luck to you both and to the good ship Jake Watch and all who sailed in her.
Thanks, girls!
I've been reading pretty much from the beginning on - commented just a few times in the beginning under different names, but never stopped reading. I wouldn't say I really knew the end was coming, but it wasn't really the same since you met Stephen and since BPB kinda stopped posting a while ago.
Thanks for a great time and a lot of laughs! Oh, the street sweeper...
I'll have a Gin tonight for you...

Thank you for giving us so much,PG and Brits, your presence in jake fandom is going to be missed!
By the grace of Heaven I found this site when I needed it most. I was lost, drowning in self-doubt and worried I was losing my mind because of my obsession with a certain smokin' hot young Hollywood actor.
I can't begin to tell you how many hours of fun, laughter and just plain ol' goofiness that you, Prophecy Girl and Britpopbaby, have given me. Not only me, of course, but so many, who as someone said, came here because of Jake, but stayed because of your wit, brilliance and creativity.
There are good, even great, Jake Gyllenhaal fan sites and blogs out there, but there will never be another Jake Watch.
AND...I have met some wonderful and cherished friends here - Cherita, Phoebe, Cina, PG, CoffeeCat, NRM, Ged, Xenia, BirdGirl, Veeveevee...all have enriched my life more than you can possibly know.
Okay, I need to stop now, I'm getting all teary. BEST of luck to you, PB and BPB, in all that you do. And THANK YOU!!!
Damn, forgot to mention Sam, Kaydee, Hugsuzie....apologies to anyone I may have forgotten!
Wow.
Thank you would never be sufficient to express all that Jake Watch has given me in the time since I found it nearly nine months ago and immediately read the entire thing from beginning to end.
You may have saved my life. Seriously.
I'm trying to stretch out again and spend more time on things not Jake-related (you both know how that becomes an issue once you start a blog, and I've gotten insight from doing my thing into the effort Jake Watch really has taken from the both of you to make it the iconic place that it is) and I look forward to future BPB/PG endeavors.
britpopbaby, you are a pioneer in addition to being one sharp cookie. I searched online for a while before I found JW, looking for something to help me deal with the ridiculous situation I found myself in, and then I read this crazy blog post (I think it was a Sock Watch) that made me realize it was okay to laugh at myself for being a fan. More than that, I laughed along with you at Jake, something that I desperately needed to be able to do at that point. No one before you had the courage to satirize a fandom, especially one like this (though I don't believe it's current state had yet been reached), and along the way there were always some people who didn't quite get what you were doing, but, well, that's how life is.
Prophecy Girl, what can I say? Your relentless efforts in the pursuit of Gyllenhaal justice have been both an inspiration and a lesson to me. Few people could have handled what you've endured with your dignity and unpretentious humor. The ceaseless creativity of your "unaltered" candid and archive photos, the games, even all the blog graphics prove that if you wanted it, you could easily have a career in graphic design or art. Add the great writing and humor and you're guaranteed success if you can find the right opening.
But it isn't just about the individuals involved, either. You two have created something truly unique and classic here. I plan to keep Jake Watch linked on my blog (which would never have existed without your inspiration), and I'm going to add a direct link to the JW Forum. Jake Watch may be about to leave us at a time when the fandom is in its most dire need of a shot of reality and perspective, but I sadly do not believe that those who could most benefit will ever get why that is.
I am typing this as I sit in the lobby of a hotel in a place I never would have been, waiting to meet up with my best friend, Charlene, whom I never would have known if not for Jake Watch. That's the kind of impact this blog has had on our lives.
From the deepest place in my heart, thank you.
Jake Watch may be about to leave us at a time when the fandom is in its most dire need of a shot of reality and perspective
And that will just be the saddest part of all.
I need this blog like the deserts need the rain, no one else can put the insanity of fandom into some much needed perspective like you girls can.
"Jake Watch may be about to leave us at a time when the fandom is in its most dire need of a shot of reality and perspective"
Amen Cherita, that is sad. PG & BPG good luck on your new pursuits, I will follow you 2 anywhere! I will miss your wickedly funny posts, your site is the only Jake site I visited and I am seriously bummed out right now.
I had to come back and say that everyone's heartfelt posts have been making me cry. I know all things come to an end but it still hurts. Again, best of luck to PG and Brit! As Cherita so beautifully said, I hope the forum is still a place to connect.
You gals are some serious, serious talent. The graphics alone -- heck, the banner alone! -- are worth coming by for. Then add your razor-sharp, unending wit and well, I don't really care what the subject matter you move on to will be, I just hope I can read it and keep on laughing and appreciating how you take this often annoyingly-used medium and make it into something so brilliantly fun, such a great, great party! You all are just the thing to help us survive this whacky life in the early 21st century. Can't wait to see what you do next and thanks for the ride!!
But, but....What if Boo turns up? What if Jake wears knee-length socks? Where will we get absolutely reliable and exclusive information about Jake’s future projects now? Who is going to live-blog Jake’s Oscar acceptance speech? I knew this world would come apart as soon as PG met JG...
So, it appears that JW is entering legend territory. The end of an era. Well done ladies. Very well done indeed. What a ride! Jake’s fandom looses its wittiest (and sanest) component. I guess the cool kids, as usual, are the first to move on. How ironic that JW is the one to go while the crappiest official website ever lives on.
The most eloquent regulars here have already expressed everything that I meant to add, so I’m just going to say Thank You to both of you and to all of them.
good luck - this has been one hell of an experience xxx
I could have told you he wasn't going to give you an interview and save you a lot of time and energy. I'm glad you guys are moving on, as they say all good things (and bad) must come to an end. I've read funny things here, but in the end, you were making fun of him, so that would explain why you were never granted that interview you were after, that and the fact that actors only give interviews to people in the business, to promote what they do, to reach to thousands at once, so I don't think this blog ever fell into any of those categories. My advice, don't pick one topic if you decide to create another blog, you'll crash and burn in a flash, I'm mean, there's only so much you can talk about a person, let alone a single subject. Good luck, you are very talented, no doubt, hope you invest that talent of yours in a more, shall we say, productive way.
What can I say. Cherita pretty much summed it up. I am really having a hard time with this. I am gonna cry again. I love you guys!
Well, you guys have made ME cry more than once now! I probably sound like a broken record, but thank you. :)
i totally support your decison to discontinue updates because ur right, there are so many new things that u cud use ur talents and experience on.. you will go far! ppl shudn't be sad, we all should celebrate what you guys have done!!
and i know exactly what you mean about this not being all about jake. you've learned so many new things and made such good friendships that i can say that makes supporting this fandom completely worth all the time and effort!
I know I already said thanks and good-bye but, I wanted say thanks again for for continuing with this site as long as you did. You two win the "persevering" award!
Love coffeecat
xx
Brits N' Prophs, take care and may your next endeavor be just as successful as Jake Watch. Oh, and I am not mad that you didn't let me steal Marilyn Jake. You said the only way for me to get it, was to ... Well, let's just say, I had a headache! ;)
Oh, man, you guys...reading all these posts are making me totally cry, mostly because I miss you all, even though it's all my own fault for not posting in forever. I just want to say thank you again to you, BP and PG, for the wonderful place you created, where each of us found a home, and friends to cherish. Those are the kind of things that will last longer than any blog, even one about Jake.
Given this has put me in a weepy mood, I'm going to watch BBM tonight, as that's how I found this blog in April '06 - looking for a place to call home. I will miss this wonderful place, even as I look forward to whatever adventures you have in store.
And I can't leave without a mention of TDATND, which I absolutely adored and which made me laugh out loud more times than I can count.
Thank you so much!
Veeveevee
Man, I keep coming back here and reading and crying my eyes out. I know I didn't post all the time but was a faithful reader every day. Thanks again, PG and Brit and all the great posters here for all the memories.
**off to cry again.
Thank you for some really good times on the Internet! I want to especially thank you fo all the effort and energy you put into all this. I know it must have been a lot of work taking up much of your time; something so easily overlooked by those of us who simply read it. All the best.

BPB & PG,
Long time! Odd that we'd be having the same feeling at the same time. For months I've been ready to close up shop too but I've been holding off, why I don't know.
It was a great ride and you and The Gilded Moose were my inspiration! If you guys decide to do something else, I hope you'll let me know!
