MAN HAS THE AUDACITY TO STAGE FASHION CRISIS IN PRESENCE OF JAKE

EVERYONE AT LAX HORRIFIED. PLANES GROUNDED.

Not to get all 'Go Fug Yourself' up in here but , dude, does your tailor hate you? Obviously not an agent of this fine establishment. Good to know Jake has reached the level of stardom where he needs personal airport security. Still not at this level though:

LMAO!!

God, that's got to be one of the most badly fitting suits I've ever seen.. His tailor most definitely hates him.

I don't think I've ever paid much attention the fit of a mans suit! thanks JW and sorry Jake had to see it first hand

Cut him some slack. Poor guy was just the driver picking Jake up.
He lives on tips!

Did Jake even sit at a table, etc. I just got the sense that he avoided the red carpet, did a minimum of "networking", made his presentation and disappeared.

Wish I looked as coherent as Jake does after a cross-country flight (says Nice Anonymous, having just sat on a plane for five hours for a business trip).

Thought someone said Jake was seated with Maggie & Peter during the Globes. (Unfortunately, I missed any sight of Jake at the ceremony, due to preparing for said trip.)

This is purely speculation, with nothing to back it up, but I have wondered if Jake caught some flack from the "Dreamgirls" folks for his impersonation. They are in a delicate position, really, waiting for the nominations next Tuesday morning. They may be very protective of their "baby" and of Jennifer Hudson in particular, who looks like the film's surest winner and yet hasn't come up through a conventional acting background. I hope I'm wrong & they were sportsmanlike about it.

This is particularly ironic in light of all that Jake put up with (quite gracefully, I might add) last year in the form of parodies of **his** award-contending movie.

Anonymous said...

nice anonymous, I've wondered the same thing regarding how the "Dreamgirls" team perceived Jake's SNL parody.
Don't ask me why but...... I don't sense that they have much of a sense of humor about their movie. And, you may be correct that they would want to "protect" J. Hudson. I would hope they would be flattered that darling Jake gave them free publicity so brilliantly!

I think you all may be onto something. The buzz is that Paramount sank so much money into promoting DG for awards season and for its Cristmas opening, that David Fincher was very upset about the lack of promotional budget for Z.Thus the postponement to March.I think they would have put up with the SNL cast lampooning the film, after all, it's what they do. But to have Jake do it, they may have regarded that as something not too cool as far as timing. And I have a feeling Jake didn't care. There might also be some flack from individuals, but I cannot see Jamie Foxx for example, being upset about it. Who knows!!! I found Maggie's effusive praise interesting. As if she was challenging anyone to say otherwise. And frankly. I'm with Jake and Maggie on this one. IF he did catch any flack and we don't know he did. Personally, I just think he was feeling jet lagged, tired, and maybe he had a cold. In the press room pics his eyes looked bloodshot.Hope he gets some rest before he has to work on Rendition some more. Bet he didn't even have a chance for a run thru/rehearsal ahead of time.

There was a big announcement in the past three days about James Cameron casting some guy in his new film, AVATAR, and the guy was chosen over Jake Gyllenhaal! Yes. James Cameron dissed Jake for someone else. So there's a director who won't get my business anymore.

Anonymous said...

Jennifer Hudson was asked in the press room after she received her award if she had seen Jake on SNL doing And I'm Telling You. She said she had and she thought it was great. :)

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:27 here. Thanks for that,Felicia!!! I couldn't imagine JH or JF or those guys being bothered by it. On the other hand, I wouldn't say the same about the suits from Paramount.I have no idea about any of this and it's purely speculative. Eddie Murphy and JF especially, should have "got it" right away. And Jake wasn't poking fun at JH or at Effie, her character. His shot was much broader. He was lampooning cliches, IMHO.

Anonymous said...

Precisely -- my speculation (completely unfounded, as I mentioned) would be regarding the Paramount people being annoyed by Jake's performance, and not about Jennifer Hudson, who seems quite sweet-natured, and probably has about a dozen people advising her to be gracious, simply because she's a novice & has come so far, so fast & is in now moving in an atmosphere as tricky as the court of Versailles.

And I thought Jamie was one of Jake's buddies & someone he admired. And yeah, if Eddie Murphy doesn't get the concept of parody (& the appeal of drag ;-) then who would?

As I said, this is purely me wondering. I'm probably overthinking it & Jake was just wiped out from being "on" continuously & maybe jetlagged a little.

Hoping for a nomination for Maggie next Tuesday. (But I don't want Winslet or Cruz to give up their spaces, because I liked their movies. Such an embarrassment of riches among lead performances by actresses this year!)

how much would you die if Jake sat next to you on that flight. Oh. My. God. Hes looking so hot, i didnt even notice the other guy. My eyes are allll on jake!

cina said...

If I sat next to him on a flight I would introduce myself as his security guard on the flight, straight from the JW HQ's, and that we, in order not to blow my cover, would have to act as a real couple madly in love during the flight. And then I guess we'd spend the rest of the flight in the bathroom.
Then I would go home and die.

And I can only agree with everyone else here. That is one badly fitting suit!!

OT: Someone over at IHJ just posted that Jake will be appearing on the cover of the Feb. isuue of GQ, I can't wait until he starts doing promo stuff for Zodiac!

Anonymous said...

Yeah, apparently with a long interview and new photos, I´m exited! I really want to know what Jake had to say in this interview. It seems so long since we actually "heard" anything from him.

^^^OOOOH!! Best news in a long time! :D

^^ OMG how exciting is that!? Interview and new pics, I'm in heaven!!

Exactly.

^^ i agree with that as well. i've been thinking a lot (and rewatching) the snl skits, and i thought they all had some interesting things to say. i won't get into dissecting them, cuz that's way OT for this post, but yeah.

felicia, thanks for the info. was this an article or a video clip? i'm just wondering what jennifer hudson's demeanor was when she said "great", cuz that could make a huge difference. i hope she and the cast do take the lampooning as a form of flattery, and an acknowledgment of effie's popularity, cuz jake sure was gracious to everyone who made fun of bbm last season.

ROFLMAO, cina!!

BTW, just who IS that unauthorized female in the gray cap directly behind Jake?!?! Hopefully she's just an assistant or rep of some sort and this is not a back-away-from-my-man situation. >:(

There are small pics of Jake's GQ cover here at IHJ . He looks SMEXY!! ;p Wonder what he will have to say in the article. Sounds like a long interview. Unfortunately I am sure it won't menition SNL because it probably went to print before that.

As for the Jennifer Hudson quote about Jake it is here at TVGuide.com.

8:14 pm: A cool, composed Jennifer Hudson, who has just won for best supporting actress, is asked what she thinks of Jake Gyllenhaal's portrayal of her Dreamgirls showstopper — complete with wig and glittery gown — on this weekend's Saturday Night Live. "I think he did a great job," she answers.

I agree with folks who say that Jennifer, Jamie and Eddie probably had no problem with it and may have found it hilarious and great, but I hope he didn't get any cold sholders from TPTB.

I get GQ in the mail, luckily but you know I'll be out there buing the newsstand copy since it comes out before I'll get it. It'd be great to hear a new interview.

Anonymous said...

I got the Feb. GQ issue! I'll read it and post any interesting tid bits!

Becky Heineke said...

Ooh, hedda! Wanna hook us up with some scans? ;)

Anonymous said...

I just got the GQ too!!! Some really nice pictures, imo. Sorry, don't have a scanner.

The interview is good! Must have been done before the holidays, the fire, SNL, so those things were not mentioned and probably would have been very interesting subjects. But it was well written and Jake is just a mellow, intelligent and goofy guy. Talked about Zodiac and a brief mention of Rendition. Mentions Jake crazy workout/biking habits. Things like that. Overall a good interview.

Anonymous said...

Sorry PG, I don't have a scanner here at home and neither do my two roomates, sigh. I do have one at work, so if someone doesn't scan it by then I'll see what I can do and let you know. There are about 4 pictures inside and one really cool/stunning b/w pic where he is wearing a white suit. The others are casual and looks like what I thought was his home but the interviewer at one point asked what his home was like so I guess it wasn't! A lot of Zodiac talk (yay!), his desire to do theater and comedy, his love of Bubble Boy some personal info: he isn't dating anyone, he addresses the Lance/biking stuff and picks up from his People magazine comments from last year about his desire to have children (in People he specific about having 4, here he doesn't) and adds that a mans most important job is to find the right woman and describes his parents relationship. There is a lot more stuff that i'm sure I forgot. Overall a fun read.

IHJ already has some scans up already! It's just the pics so far:

http://iheartjake.suddenlaunch.com/index.cgi?board=gyllenhaalics&action=display&num=11690701

I also remembered a few more tidbits: the interviewer says the his face was so expressive almost comic, he got a kick out of that. Talked about going to Columbia Univ. with Maggie, then talked then turned to his niece and the above quotes. The interviewer was taken aback saying he sounded so traditional! He kind of scrambled a bit ( i think he equates "tradition" with not being cool IMO) and said yeah I am! Then said that while he resepects tradition and honors it, he likes to turn things on their heads and do things his way, and then went on to talk about the In Thin Air! So I think he meant things in general, he strays from the subjects at times as per ususal with Jake, it's like he has so much to say and not enough time to say it!

Anonymous said...

Opp! I meant to say the book In Thin Air!

Just Jared has the pic scans: here
