I saw you all mentioning which film you'd like Anneka to review next and I thought why not vote on it and pressurise her into doing some frickin' work?
I'm afraid Highway must be sidelined for now because neither I nor Anneka have it on DVD. Er, come to think of it I don't think either of us have Brokeback Mountain on DVD either...
Well I've voted for Brokeback as I'm damn sure it would be a good review but I too would settle for The Good Girl as I love it! Come to think of it I'd watch anything with Jake in it!
I’ve been toying around lately with the mumbly bits in BBM thinking of an award for the best mumbled line in BBM. (For the record I will say I like Heath's work heaps - see Two Hands) There were such classic moments in BBM like Heath's first line “…Anus”. I mean “Ennis”. It just sets the whole theme of the film straight up. And what about this gem, “Mmm”. But I lost interest in this exercise after the ‘love scene’ when I identified the best line of the BBM mumblefest when he mumbles “What are you doing?”
I then harkened back that this film was the most difficult to watch in the theatre surrounded by an audience. The love scene in particular brought an extraordinary reaction; the first being a bunch of giggly young girls (and boys) who just would not shut up. The second experience was a little more sublime and saw me sharing the theatre with a fat guy who, at every awkward loving moment between Jake and Heath on screen, would proceed to fart. Urgh. Not pretty. But he must have had a good time.
The second experience was a little more sublime and saw me sharing the theatre with a fat guy who, at every awkward loving moment between Jake and Heath on screen, would proceed to fart.
LMFAO!! OMG, what a f*cking nightmare!! Passing gas out of awkward nervousness, perhaps? LOL
I voted for Bubble Boy, although I would want it to be a review of the DVD commentary.
I love The Good Girl, so I would be more than happy if it wins. BBM would probably make a great review too. An Annektatorship were she tells us what we are going to read while we stand in the gruel line, would probably be better than these democratic generosities for indecisive people like me.
NRM, I voted Bubble Boy. Sorry!! She'll get around to them all eventually...I hope. Can I vote again? Looks like we're being beaten by the Brokeback crew anyway, although I have to shame brits and anneka for neither one of you having the world's greatest gay cowboy movie!!! Seriously. What the hell?
Can I ask why Moonlight Mile has been left out? Did I miss something?
Brokeback Mountain is finally going to be released here at the end of September and apparently Belgium and The Netherlands are going to have a Special Edition as well. As soon as I have found out what that entails, I will let you guys know.
I've voted for "Bubble Boy" as well, since I still feel a little protective about "Brokeback Mountain," after all the jokes & satires made of it. I've seen it enacted by cartoon bunnies and in Lego dioramas, so that would be difficult to top, anyway.
Plus that one-line plot summary you folks keep repeating about the "dirty whore" in another "Bubble Boy" situation always makes me laugh.
OK, I voted again. Sorry. I had to represent both my homies, Donnie and Jimmy. Either one is fine with me. Actually it doesn't really matter. Any movie that Anneka wants to review, I will fully support her. It's not like we have any bad movies in the mix. :D
i voted BB (though i agree with dumbo that a review of the commentary track would be even better). but i could see moonlight mile being a really good review. highway sounds like a good subject too, but i haven't seen it! i think the good girl would be hilarious, so i'd be happy if that won. i dunno about brokeback-- it's so sad... i know anneka's humor has been in good fun and good taste, but like nice said, the movie's been subject of so many jokes already...
good question, simon-- brit, can we vote multiple times>
This was a tricky one, but I finally decided to go with "The Good Girl". I am, too, hoping that we will get a kick-ass review of ALL the films mentioned, eventually!
I don't like such tradegy to be kept in my TV cabinet.
But brits, it's like sooo worth it!! If you should let ONE tragic story into your cabinet, it has to be this one!
TBL, I am Prophecy Girl. I can make all things happen! (Actually I've only got one computer option left and then I'll have to go to my bosses computer which might be awkward...but I will gladly spend my last vote for you!)
PG! Voting multiple times?? I thought you were all about democracy and now you're throwing my votes system?!! Well now it's not truly representative of the people!
wow, go bubble boy-- what a change of landscape in a short time! haha, i'm so fickle, now that bubble boy is in the lead, i'm mourning the loss of the good girl and donnie darko =P
Voted Bubble Boy. I am still not ready to vote BBM. Maybe at a later date. This story first, as I read it before I saw the movie, or even knew the movie would be made, touched my heart. It still saddens me for some reason. I rarely watch past "Girls don't fall in love with fun." I think it's the writing, Annie Proulx did a phenominal job.
I only voted twice! I didn't even go and vote again when I said I was going to vote again even though everyone thought I did vote again...the upping of the numbers was really just the masses speaking! I swear! And I didn't even vote for the same movie both times and I even disclosed my votes. I am sorry if I have shamed the democracy of the system. I understand if I need to be punished.
OK, I'm the moron who only just now saw the map function. Someone voted from south Florida! Aren't they in the middle of Ernesto about now? Now THAT is devotion my friends! Kudos to our Florida allies!!
TBL, I found one CT vote. I'm guessing it's you. But where is the Memphis vote?! Does this thing reset or something? I am not represented! Also, erm, I thought of another computer I could use. Two unused votes! What are they worth, people? Actually, probably nothing at this point. I'm having a moral dilemma now. What to do?!
Dude, that's so not me! It's some crazy person in Nashville! I used to know tons of people who lived in Nashville, but now they've all gone, and I can't even claim influence there. I've decided it's too risky to vote here in the office anyway...but I've got two more computers at home.
Cripes! It's was Bubble Boy and now it's all Brokeback, is someone rigging the poll? Listen, my offer to stuff the ballot box for a fee still stands, but only if it is for my choice Bubble Boy, OK?
Oh m y god that little map thing is awesome! I found my home town woo! Although my vote does not show on there which is annoying as I was second to vote-first to vote Brokeback! I'm never first!
No! No! No!!! You can't let brokeback win, not just yet. Perhaps after we have all adjusted to anneka's wavelenght, in terms of her satirical but witty overview. Bubble boy would be perfect, can't you see???...and then jarhead/good girl/donnie darko/bbm. In that order. Please!
This is what I get for not actually reading the thing before voting. Oops. I thought I was just voting for my favorite movie. Not sure I want to see a satire commentary on BBM yet either so if possible I'd have to change my vote to maybe Donnie Darko.
Do highway! don't be dam lazy and buy the dam DVD! God I don't want to spend any money to do it - so tell me what the hell happens - and be real explicit if you can - hell make up some shit too! YEAH WOO HOO! God I'm so tired - I'm gonna just sleep righte hereeeeeeeeeeeee..zzzzzzzzzfrfgfrtht
Okay I woke up - please don''t do any more movies or have a separate blog - this scrolling passed it is so tiresome....its really to long and well - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Awww man. I don't wanna be hunted down and my pelt used for wall decoration. How about 'Lady and the Tramp' guys? Didn't you all know that Jake played the Scottie dog?
I'm so totally speculating ;-) but if it is really monitored with IPs, then the points on the map are not users' addresses, but rather their servers'. Your server can be just in the building next door or a few miles away (or more for people using proxys, which is frequent for companies' internet accesses). This would explain why some people can't "see" themselves.
Right, this shall be my biggest challenge as a writer and I'm a little upset and frankly hurt that some people don't think either Anneka nor I could handle the sensitivity of with the paddle of snark. You'll see, you will ALL see!
I'm a little upset and frankly hurt that some people don't think either Anneka nor I could handle the sensitivity of with the paddle of snark
Aaww! Baby. I don't think that's the implication at all. (ok for some maybe..) A lot of regulars I'm sure have faith in you and anneka's writing abilities and sensitivity but I think others will need to get used to the tone, gradually. But seeing as it has won, despite my passionate plea for the very underated bubble boy,(500 doallazz!!!) I can say I am looking forward to seeing how you pull it off. *crosses fingers*

Since Brokeback seems to be out of the picture I have to vote for my second favourite The Good Girl!
Well I've voted for Brokeback as I'm damn sure it would be a good review but I too would settle for The Good Girl as I love it! Come to think of it I'd watch anything with Jake in it!
Has everyone checked out the amazing artwork I did of Anneka? It's under 'Jake' and 'His Films'.
I had no idea Anneka could surf!
I voted Donnie Darko! But i think you should buy Brokeback Mountain. I got a feeling that would be soo funny!

Thank the goddess for home DVD.
Why not hire what you wanna review?
Glad to se TGG in the lead! :-)

LMFAO!! OMG, what a f*cking nightmare!! Passing gas out of awkward nervousness, perhaps? LOL
anneka lives in the UK right? i could lend highway and/or BBM if she lives close enough i can assassinate her if she does not returnth the dvd's...
:P
LoL. Exactly. Perfect score...
I need PG heer to vote for DD!
"I had no idea Anneka could surf!"
Me neither! I mean, I have trouble walking sometimes.
The only video shop in my vicinity has closed it's doors. This is why Wales is rubbish and should be stricken from all maps.
I voted for "The good girl", it's the second voted after BBM. If The good girl is chosen, it will need good amounts of Anneka's humour.
See HIGHWAY soon ;)
Not anymore.
Anneka, you'll have to go to Woolies and buy it. I'm sure it's on sale by now.
I voted for Bubble Boy, although I would want it to be a review of the DVD commentary.

Anneka is not decisive enough to have her own 'tatorship, I'm afriad Dumbo.
She takes 20 minutes in the supermarket trying to decide whether to get a small tin of sweetcorn or a bigger one.
Me on the otherhand...

^Haven't got in on DVD and blogflux only let me have five options...the fuckers.

Well done PG! I can't vote again! ;-(
I also have multiple computers in my office. *mwhahahaha*
Vote DONNIE DARKO what happened??
PG you are so evil!
TBL, I am Prophecy Girl. I can make all things happen! (Actually I've only got one computer option left and then I'll have to go to my bosses computer which might be awkward...but I will gladly spend my last vote for you!)
Oh, shit! Now I'm conflicted!
Alright, I'm stepping aside. No one shall know what I'm voting! Maybe it'll be The Good Girl! You never know! You'll never drag it out of me!
LOL..
NRM i voted DD if it soothes your heartache to know deary..
:)
^ thank you dear! Now i need to find an internet cafe!
Bubble Boy!!!
Now i need to find an internet cafe!
That's the spirit, NRM!! LOL
PG! Voting multiple times?? I thought you were all about democracy and now you're throwing my votes system?!! Well now it's not truly representative of the people!

TBL I’m going to buy a pair of stilettos so I can plunge them into the hearts of who ever voted for bubble boy!
Also Brits I think you should ban PG from this vote! Take her 5 votes off for bubble boy!
Thanks phoebe!
Voted Bubble Boy. I am still not ready to vote BBM. Maybe at a later date. This story first, as I read it before I saw the movie, or even knew the movie would be made, touched my heart. Oh, dear. Nothing Really Matters wants to kill me for voting for "Bubble Boy."
Nothing really matters.
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
To me ........
There. (Please don't stab me through the heart with your stiletto knife ... or heel ... or whatever.)
I vote for bubbleboy.
Mainly because I'm dying for someone to comment on the 'sporting wood' scene.
And the map is so cool. Someone voted BBM all the way from asia? Cool!
OK, I'm the moron who only just now saw the map function. Someone voted from south Florida! Aren't they in the middle of Ernesto about now? Now THAT is devotion my friends! Kudos to our Florida allies!!
Ohmigod, I didn't see the map at first either. It's like..Big Brother is watching..or something.. LOL
Hey, where's my Minnesota vote for Bubble Boy - I demand a recount!
I can have access to a dozen or more computers to vote. Any wants to buy vote for their favorite? I'm open to offers.
Dude, that's so not me! It's some crazy person in Nashville! I used to know tons of people who lived in Nashville, but now they've all gone, and I can't even claim influence there. I've decided it's too risky to vote here in the office anyway...but I've got two more computers at home.
This Pussy is very sad!
Cripes! It's was Bubble Boy and now it's all Brokeback, is someone rigging the poll? Listen, my offer to stuff the ballot box for a fee still stands, but only if it is for my choice Bubble Boy, OK?

My favorite is Brokeback so I of course had to vote for that one.

I'm thinking that you are going to need to get a copy of BBM - a great investment I must say - I have multiple copies myself
I voted yesterday for Donnie Darko, cause I think a parody after that would be hilarious! But Brokeback..oh,dear..iceberg,right ahead!
Awww man. I don't wanna be hunted down and my pelt used for wall decoration. How about 'Lady and the Tramp' guys? Didn't you all know that Jake played the Scottie dog?
Simon, a complete reinstall might help. You might lose a few files, but what the hell, it's all for a good cause.
you should try my vote-rigging service. Prices are quite reasonable, and special offers for old age pensioners.
Tut, tut, Joyce, that's only for those interested to know.
Since there's a "map" of the votes it means it is an IP-controlled vote. If you want to rig it you have to spoof many IPs and vote with them.
But given th enumber of votes, it is true that someone might me messing with blogflux ;-)
Do Bubble Boy - its safe - Don't even ATTEMPT Brokeback - I don't think you can handle the tent scenes - you might make the computer explode!
No Brokeback cannot be snarked on so I go with Jarhead for Screaming, spitting, buffed-and-naked-a-lot,sexual fantasy inducing Jakey.
Shit. Does this mean BBM wins? Fucking democracy.
Right, this shall be my biggest challenge as a writer and I'm a little upset and frankly hurt that some people don't think either Anneka nor I could handle the sensitivity of with the paddle of snark. You'll see, you will ALL see!
