JAKE GYLLENHAAL: DEATH DEFYING STUNTS

Blazenly crossing a tretcherous London intersection on what can only be described as a "daft" bike. Look as his steely determination! Does this man know no fear?

The Mighty Gyllenhaal even stops traffic. And he does it on a sorry excuse for a bike. Can't get any clearer than that, can it?

Hail The Gyllenhaal!

Like someone on the forum said, this is how it all began! This must have provided him the confidence needed for cycling with the Armstrong..

LOL! That's a great photo! It's a bit like David and Goliath - the little bike defying the big nasty trucks.

(And "daft" is such a good word to describe that bike. ;-D)

He hides his superpowers behind an ordinary glum façade, but he should play a superhero in a not totally imbued with SFX movie, better than a cyclist!

Ha ha - when was this taken? I'm sure I've seen one of him in similar clothes and on a similar (expensive) little bike, riding along a west London pavement. EXACTLY the kind of cyclist we hate and would love to get banned! (Might reconsider once I'd seen the face, though).

:D

he's not in london now is he?

No, that pic is from 2002 or 2003.

thanks, was kinda a silly question... not cold enough yet for all those clothes!!!

:)

^^ HAHA! True! (Didn't cross my mind either, but it sure is true!) LOL!

LOL...I've never seen this pic before and it has made me giggle...a lot. Man, it's obvious now that Jake needed Lance's guidance much more than I originally thought.
"Jake, THESE are bike tires. THOSE were tricycle tires."

LOL! I LOVE this pic! It's hysterical and aww, Jake looks adorable on that cute little tiny bike!

It looks like he has just causally rode out into the middle of the road and all the trucks and cars had to come to a screeching halt but he just carries on, not even noticing as everyone screams, "Bloody Yank film stars!" out their windows.

And welcome beckela - age is just a mindset here which is luckily because I consider myself juvenile ;)

^ Tut, tut, tut.

Ha ha! I love this picture. That bike always makes me laugh. He's riding with such dignity considering how dinky it is and that he could easily be crushed by anyone of those very large vehicles beside him. The man knows no fear.

Do we know when this picture was taken? And where?

London used to be (possibly still is) full of grown men feeding their Peter Pan complex by travelling around in all kinds of preposterous contraptions like BMXs, scooters and skateboards.

It's more than 90 degrees here at 9 AM, so the sight of any human being bundled in an insulated parka with a fur-lined hood just feels ... so wrong. That's how the homeless dress during all seasons in Manhattan. I feel like giving a dollar to Jake so that he can get a shopping cart to drag behind his little bike & carry all his possessions, particularly for bedding down at night.

never mind the buck, i'd just tke him home!!!

There was a caption with this: Times of London:"...and so, young Jacob, after having seen Lance Armstrong's biography, "It's Not About The Bike" in a local book store, tore through the streets of rush hour London, singing:
"Born to be wi-iiilld! Born to be wii-illd!" to the delight of West End theatre goers."

LOL! that's hilarious! Even more funny because of that huge parka he's wearing!

Ha Ha that's a Brompton Bike!! That photo is from 2004, when he was in London w/Kiki. I actually have the July 2004 Vogue issue that mentions the bikes. Ha Ha GO ME! Do I get a biscuit? ;-p Here's the relevant quotage -

Dunst had an apartment in London's Bayswater's district, and Gyllenhaal went over to stay with her. "It was near the park," she says, "and we got Brompton bikes -- those ones that fold up. We bought those, and we rode around the city on our Brompton bikes. Because the cabs there are so expensive."

hahaha!!! That headline and that picture together just crack me up. Awww, bless little jake on his little bike amongst all those big bad evil trucks.

Because the cabs there are so expensive.

Okay, cabs in London are too expensive for even Hollywood movie stars? London - officially the most expensive place on Earth.

Well done, British agent!
