LISTEN UP, POETRY FANS!

There will be a full reading of Stephen Gyllenhaal's poem, 'Canon' (which is Jake related) by his editor Michael this Saturday (10th) in New York. If you show up you can collect a Claptrap: Notes from Hollywood postcard that you can get signed at the June 28th reading.

More details:
Lit Mag Marathon
Saturday, June 10, 4-6:30pm
DeWitt Wallace Periodical Room
New York Public Library
5th Avenue at 42nd Street
(the one with the stone lions--you know, the library where Jake had to hole up in The Day After Tomorrow).

P.S - Whilst we're on the subject - Pops, if you're reading this can you please attend that June 28th reading dressed as a frogman or Scaramanga or something so that you fit in with our new theme? I'm sure it wouldn't be too much hassle. Thanks.

I wish I lived in NYC
damnit!

It would be more boat trip than road trip, NRM! I know we get a lot of readers from New York (well, about 20 or so as far as I can work out) so I'm hoping we get pictures or reports or something!

Wasn't he going to do a reading in London too? Or have I just made that up? I want to go to this reading...

Stupid England with it's late dvd's and it's lack of Poppa Gyllenhaal's poems.

If he's taking requests, I think he should come as Sophie Marceau, the one who cut off her ear for Robert Carlyle. Or Halle Berry.

Imagine the headlines! STEPHEN GYLLENHAAL PARADES ROUND NEW YORK CITY IN DRAG WITH ONE EAR

Oh, I SO want to be there!!! But it's completely impossible. Any NY people, please go and represent and write long, highly-detailed synopses. Please!

Aargh! No chance that he'll be crossing the pond then? Damnit!

For the NY sisters and brothers and undecided that do go, please do the 411 for us.

I was born in the wrong country. Period.

I think Gyllenhaal sen. would want to be 'Q' so that he could protect his boy.

'Now see this little beauty son, it has a stalker tracking device in the lid- otherwise it looks just like any other take away coffee - I know the girls at Jake Watch do their best but you can't be too careful- just look at the Louella incident.'

YAY!! I work at the NY Public Library on 42nd St. Special Events e-mailed the staff about this event, but I ignored it because it was on a Saturday and I had no idea that it was Jake related! I guess i will be "going to work" this Saturday!

Man, I wish I had a job that allowed me to spend time with famous people instead of the muppets that live around here.

When is he coming to us, I wonder.

Now, sorry to hijack this thread but I am back to struggling with that avatar (yes, I think I was dropped on my head as a baby). I have managed to open the picture but, of course, have no means of hosting it. Could anyone help? Are these pictures hosted somewhere already?

I'm losing hair over this people.

Right, as an interim measure, does this work?

Boat trip then Brits. I’m sure we could steal a boat James Bond style! We can stay at the Marriot Marquis 1535 Broadway how does that sound?? Such a lovely hotel.

"Man, I wish I had a job that allowed me to spend time with famous people instead of the muppets that live around here."

Anneka hope you don't include! And why are you not a Bond girl??

I'm totally agree with you cina. I don't know which country you are from but I live in Sweden and sometimes it feels like... you know wrong country :)

NRM, meant the muppets in my area, not my internet homies like yourself who are not muppets. And I'm not sure why I'm not a Bond girl. I do have fantastic breasts. So people tell me.

I’m sure you do have fantastic breasts! Look at my face I do!

Find yourself a Bond girl! I’m a Bond girl and I’m not even a real girl. (Don’t tell anyone, don’t think they will notice). I was only messing Anneka,

What time during that two and a half hours is Gyllenpappa's publisher reading the poem? Because that is a lot of poetry to sit through. On a Saturday, when the rain here might actually stop. Hmmmmm ... still debating whether I'll go.

OK, just making sure I haven't insulted anyone.

People used to call me Kermit because of my apparent resemblance to the green critter. I don't think they meant it as a term of endearment.

LOL Agnes - I live in Sweden too! ;-)

Love the 60's Bond-esque re-branding of the blog Brit. Its the best yet. Jake as 007 would be delish.

My relation with poetry comes from much time ago. My boyfriend was a writer in his free time and published poems and a book in an independent Spanish editorial:"Zocalo", the title was "She, my demons and me". I usedto writed short tales in an college literary magazine named "Aquisgran". It's fabulous Jake's father is a poet, too. Too bad I am with many schedule issues and I won't go to NY.

Weirdland said...

Sorry for the "erratas" in the post I wrote above. As I said, I wrote various short tales and poetry too and I dated some geek musicians and amateur poets, lol.
Now seriously, britpopbaby, you are one of my muses. Thanks a lot for posting a link to my modest blog, although my "love" for Jake is not that modest.

Oh,damn. Why am I stuck in this nobody's country?..at least you Brits can make groups and sail away..you guys in Sweeden can sell ABBA T-shirts or dirty stories and buy plane tickets..but what the heck am I gonna do all by myself?
I would love a little 'poetry reading' with the Gyllenhaal..(moulin rouge inspired..)
