So I know there was some talk of Jake showing up in Cannes to support both Maggie (Paris, je t'aime) and Kirsten (Marie-Antoinette) but looks like he's a no show. And where's Sarsy? Also, for the record, I'm completely in love with Maggie. Lee in Secretary was one of the most endearing and brilliant performances I've ever seen. If I were a lesbian she would be in trouble.UPDATE: Sarsy located and looking as fine AS!

I have seen a picture of her and Peter in Cannes on Jake's Eyelashes, so he must be accompanying her.
I have not seen Secretary - should I? I understand she gave a great performance in that movie, but SM is definitely not my thing.
I think she is quite lovely and don't understand why some people would call her ugly.

Yes, Katie, that was exactly what I thought, too! In that second picture, it's not Maggie'slower lip but rather her tongue that slightly protruding. The Gyllenhaals are part lizard -- they use their tongues to pick up vibrations in the air.

I am a female and I have quite a girl-crush on Maggie. There was a clip of her on the BBC's news footage of the festival last night, looking all doe-eyed and pretty. And that baby is going to be an absolute stunner!
I don't see Secretary as a film about S&M. It's about two people who have their problems and finally find a way to express or release themselves. They can be who they truly are with each other whilst they're hiding from everyone else around them. The S&M part is a metaphor for that message. A literal way to show their connection and understanding. See, ain't I got smarts, Momma?!
I was in Cannes yesterday and yes, Maggie and Peter were there together on the red carpet (awww). There was also a guy commenting live, and he managed not only to mispronounce Maggie's last name (imagine a french accent and something like hard G-illal, but also to stumble on Sarsgaard (which sounded like Sagsard or something)!

I followed your advice and watched Secretary. Loved it, thanks :) and when I was in the video store I rented Moonlight mile and casa de los babys too.
If your trying to consume as much Gyllengaard as possible, you CANNOT miss The Dying Gaul. Mmmm Peter does a terrific job and the plot is very interesting. It's not perfect but there is a scene in a board room that washes away all sins.
