Jake Gyllenhaal has finally moved on from his on-again off-again love Kirsten Dunst. Sources tell Us that the 25-year-old actor is dating Gretchen Bleiler, an Olympic snowboarder from Toledo, Ohio. The pair are so serious that Bleiler, 25, is moving from her current residence in Snowmass Village, Colorado to Los Angeles to be with Gyllenhaal. The couple shares a love of the outdoors in common. Gyllenhaal is often seen skate-boarding, biking, and surfing. Bleiler won the silver medal in halfpipe in 2006 and was the superpipe champion in the 2003 and 2005 Winter X Games. She was also the Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding champion three years running from 2001 – 2003.
When reached for comment, Gyllenhaal’s rep said, “Thank you for inquiring but we do not comment on his personal life.”

I'm skeptical, frankly. But maybe this ties in with the big campaign of recent candid photographs depicting "Jake as Jock." Part of an attempt at marketing to that 15- to 35-year-old straight-young male moviegoer demographic, which is, it would seem, not one of Jake's natural constituents? Hey, Jake, give up on those guys already. You can make it, just based on your appeal to females and gays.

She is no longer with her boyfriend Chris. They broke up after the Winter Games. Jake has been spotted in Colorado, just no pappictures I guess they don't stalk/lurk there. I think that is's legit, Gretchen seems rather random and out of the blue to be otherwise.

There have been rumors about Jake and Keira Knightley, Mischa Barton, the woman in "Marie Full of Grace," and perhaps more in the last year or so. None of which are "confirmed by Jake's reps." But are doubtless all planted by Jake's reps. It just happens to coincide with Jake being conspicuously single and Ted Casablanca's "Toothy Tile," which admittedly might be someone else or a work of fiction. But considering the heat is on, his people probably want to take it off and let him have some privacy and just be a normal young guy, free to see whom he likes or just be alone.

The thing I remind myself about Jake is that, unlike me, he's always working, even when he's not working. What is his next project, which he will have to do publicity for? "Zodiac," right? What is the target audience for that movie, the demographic that is most likely to see it -- as opposed to, say, "Brokeback Mountain"? (He's the star of "Zodiac," right?) How does he become more appealing to that possible audience? Sorry, I'm a little cynical about the entertainment business -- which in no way decreases my admiration for the very fine appearance and unusual intelligence and charm of Mr. Gyllenhaal.

Toothy Tile was fabulous PR for the potential audience for "Brokeback Mountain" -- the illicit hint that the handsome co-lead was living out in real life something experienced by his character in the movie -- but above all, it was fabulous PR for Ted Casablancas. Since that gossip columnist writes artfully concocted puzzles, and works through indirection & suggestion, always keeping one wily eye on the U.S. libel laws, he's as open to interpretation as any modernist poem. Anyone can give any number of readings to his items. Also, I am not willing to take every ambiguous word he writes as the absolute truth, as that would hold him to higher journalistic standard even than the NY Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, & etc. Anyway, now the Toothy Tile items are aging, dropping into Internet lore. We may never know, one way or the other. And Jake has a new movie to promote these days.

This thought had crossed my mind, as well. Just like all the pap pictures of him, I'm sure some of them are random, especially since Nov/Dec, but I think a lot of the older ones were planted.
I'm impressed with the deduction prowess displayed here, well done you, Watchers! I really have nothing to add on that front, I just bring up the rear - or something. I will say that if this coupling turned out to be genuine, it would be rather nice. The party would have been on April 11th as far as I can figure out and according to the newspaper that is the week he was in CO. If Jake and Gretchen were an item don't you think there would be some kind of photographic evidence?

My natural instinct is to comment on what's presented without a lot of speculation. I have thoughts on every theory but until they're asked for I've just been sort of unwittingly reticent; going with the flow...the bottom line for me is Jake's happiness.
The Jake sighting in Colorado most likely would have been the previous Sunday, 4/9. The column is dated 4/13 which is a Thursday, but the sighting says "last Sunday". Also he could have easily gone to Gretchen's B'day after the game since she spends part of the year in LA according to sources. That IMDB thread regarding this was started on 4/13 almost a month ago. Nobody picked it up for some reason.

The cousin could have been wrong on what day the party was on. Gretchen's actual birthday is April 10th (she was 25). That would have been Monday and not Tuesday. Jake could have easily been skiing that Sunday the 9th and at the party on the 10th and back in LA for the Laker's game on the 11th with Austin. Makes sense the party would actually be on the day of her birthday.

Yeah - he realistically let the "gay" runors run rampant while he was getting to know her. The rumors are now so out of hand that I think a lot of people will look at this woman as a beard no matter what he says or does.
Whatever the truth is (and I am pro-Austin and not going anywhere) now her name is out there we can expect to see pictures, if it's not a Keira or Mischa type rumor.
I always wonder why nobody took into account, that it could be possible, that he couldn´t be bothered by this gay rumour because he simply is neither gay nor bi. If he has nothing to hide and TC´s annoying TT-story is just BS, he could well be relaxed and enjoy seeing everybody run in the wrong direction while he was in fact starting something new. What a lot of people keep forgetting is how much of Jake they've actually invented, all on their own, from their own imagination, based on their own individual needs. Everyone looks at pictures of him, alone or interacting with others, & makes up a little story about what he's feeling or thinking. Everyone reads the same quotes from him, filtered through some journalist, and interpets them differently. Our little stories may or may not jive with the reality. On some level, we're never going to know the whole truth about Jake.

Actually, journalist who work for those magazines usually have very good sources who are mainly industry insiders, PR people and so on. They have more chance to find out information like that one way before we do.
Anyway, I really hope that information is true. Jake has been seen quite lonely lately. That snowboarder is probably fun to be with. If the rumor is true, then I am truly happy for him and wish him the very best.
