Funny, when i first heard Jake speak i was surprised to hear he was born and raised in LA!! In the recent PR appearences promoting Jarhead and BBM, he didn't sound LA at all IMO, he came off as more of a goofy, frat boy type.
Actually, I had never seen Jake in any movie until Brokeback Mountain. I'd heard of him, seen his photos, but no movies or talk show stints. I had no idea what his background was at all. But while watching the movie, even in spite of the fact he had a decent fake Texas accent, I was totally (yeah, like, totally!) convinced that this actor was born and raised in Los Angeles. I look up his bio on the Internet later, and, sho' nuff. He has the inflections of a surfer dude or valley boy, even when he's using a Texas accent. I just knew it. I think it's his body language, too.
I am definitely thinking, Jake. In fact I am thinking Jake. Jake and me. Jake and me and some body-chocolate. And cream. And a four-poster bed. And he can sound as valley girl as he likes, if he gets round to talking...

He tends to say "like" in direct quotes. He talks like Moon Unit Zappa in "Valley Girl." Does everyone from LA talk like, like that?
