JAKE REDEEMS HIMSELF

I'm hoping the man in the wheelchair just said something really funny to Jake because why else would you smile gleefully at someone in that situation? But what a saint, I usually storm past beggars whilst tutting that they should get a damn job and stop hassling those of us who earn our money...er, only joking. And just for the record, those are some weird traffic cones; does everything in Hollywood have to be skinny?
UPDATE: Thanks to cina for finding this video. I'm not exactly sure what happens in it but that disabled man sure has some attitude! VIEW CLIP HERE

Was the man shouting at Jake? He kept saying, "That's so messed up, man". Hope he was talking to the paps.

cina said...

Yep, he was talking to the paps, the convo goes something like this:

Man: "Say brother please stop and help."

Jake: "oh?"

Man: "lets help make this shot, man"

Jake: "Are you kidding me? Haha"

Man: "Yeah, man, make me look good"

Jake: "No, maybe next time"

Man: "Ya'll messed up man! Don't just be cool man! All you gotta do is back up! The man is stopping..... Ya'll messed up...ya'll could of got a much better shot if ya'll just backed up!" (to the paps)

Jake: "You guys are a joke!" (the paps)

In Hollywood, even the homeless belong to the Screen Actors Guild and are conscious of their responsibility for helping to create a photo opportunity full of human interest. And even they feel disdain for a much lower form of life, the papparazzi.

Yeah, Jake's a saint (as if we didn't already know), but that video just made me uncomfortable. He was not a happy camper going up those stairs...

Jeez is that what he has to deal with???
Poor Jake, hull ur arse on over to jersey where i can tend you and feed and make them jeans look even more stained than neccesary. No random blondes and/or homeless bums required..

It's clips like this that really illustrate why I would never want to be a celebrity. It takes a lot of skill to deal with that pap crap in a dignified manner like Jake does, the poor fecker.

I would have fucking walked off. No one deserves to be spoken to like that and I think the beggar caused more trouble than the paps did that time. It's depressing.

squallcloud said...

I cannot imagine walking down the street followed by video and still cameras. Right in yuor face no less. That video was weird. It looked like Jake was gonna give money, changed his mind, then changed it again. He was alright until they started crowding him when he was pulling out his money clip or whatever. This is the first time I've felt bad for Jakey and the paparazzi.

Also, to anon 6:02 Hee!

Seeing video clips like this one sort of makes it understandable that celebrities sometimes lose it and attack the paps. I can't even imagine what it's like to have a ton of cameras shoved up your face just going out for your morning coffee.

Still, I can't deny that I like to see pics and clips of him out and about, so of course I'm a part of it in some way. :-/

Was this before or after the drunk/stumbly/stained pics?

Anonymous said...

It look like it was before. I feel bad for him, enough already.

Anonymous said...

Oh...bummer. I was hoping it was some sort of 'walk of shame', hungover, gotta get a juice thing.

Maybe next time.

Yah I'm totally complicite in the Paparazzi Industrial Complex. ... I make my penance by going to the movies and not buying bootlegs from bra'man on the subway selling them along with incense and "water pipes"

Just saw the clip. I think both Jake and the homeless man sort of knew each other already. Not that they're friends but, maybe the guy is always begging for money in front of the studio and Jake has seen him before, and had also gave him money before too. According to People Mag. Jake was making a coffee run while filming a scene for Zodiac. Perhaps the building he went in to, is the studio where the filming is taking place, although it sort of looks like a parking lot.

cina said...

Hmmm. I they finished with Zodiac back in february already, plus Jake was always clean-shaven while filming it so I doubt there's any truth in what People Magazine says there. Of course I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound right to me.

wtbgirl said...

He could be looping or doing some other post-production type work.

cina said...

True, true. Didn't think of that!

That wheelchair guy is a regular. It was a total scam at Jake's expense. So not fair to do this to our lovely man.Back off paps!

No wonder he went out and got bladdered the same night if this is the sort of set up phoney shit he has to deal with.Poor Jake, feel for the guy. Those paps should be hung, drawn and quartered and that beggar guy is not better. He makes a bundle of cash everyday and is well know according to someone on ihj? Jake.Stay strong.

Dumbass, hobo! That is Jake Gyllenhaal! If you are nice to him he may give you thousands of dollars, not just one. Stupid Jake too! You don't give them money to feed their drug/drink addiction,(which is probably why he spoke to the J-man like that)you go buy them a sandwich.
God that hobo is an idiot! I mean you could sell that dollar on eBay for a fortune, I know I would be interested! It is a Gyllenhaal note, they are like fairy dust; magical and one in a million!

Miss Twist said...

Wait a minute, where was this filmed cause that hobo looks really familiar. If this was LA then that is the guy who tricked my dad. He was all acting like he couldn't get up the step and then when my dad went to help him he was all like, "Hey, you got any money, I am really hungry!" So I was like, "Well there is a starbucks over there, you want me to get something?" and then he was just like, "No I will get it, just give me the money!" It was obvious he wasn't and he stank like booze so we just walked off and he was screaming all kinds of crap at us. EVIL HOBO!

Anonymous said...

Miss Twist,Yes it was L.A.
Poor Jake.On a brighter note and just to lift out spirits, for those of you that love it(me)Dill is well and truly back!!!

Lift out spirits? What am i trying to do.Kill us all?Sorry,my typo.
Should read...Lift our spirits.

Well, I never give money to people who are begging, and I kinda got the feeling that Jake didn't really want to do it either, but he sort of felt like he HAD to because the paps were there. If he hadn't given the man some money we all know - and Jake knows - what the tabloids would say the next day.... I wouldn't be surprised at all if that homeless man is just a fraud, and if it was a set-up initiated by the paps, it's even worse. Poor Jake.

Miss Twist said...

Nah I have seen that hobo before, I am sure.

Anonymous said...

No more "poor Jake", please. Stop feeling sorry for him. He knew very well where he was getting into when he decided to be an celebrity. Jake grew up in a Hollywood family, and even had celebrity mentors. He knows how to deal with all that papparazzi crap. Besides, he is rich, smart and young. If that sort of life doesn't suit him he can always go back to school, get a degree and do something else for a living.

These latest photos/supposed circumstances just make me sad. :( Granted, I'm too emotionally invested at the best of times and Jake has said before that he can handle the paps (he was grace under fire here), but things just seem to be spiralling in a weird way lately - or careening into a black hole as I think squallcloud said. There needs to be a balance between him laying low a bit (though not to the point where he can't live his life) and the paps/PR/whatever backing *way* off. I don't know if that can possibly exist for Jake.

Just read your comment anon 12:42, and I completely agree with you.

He's the first actor I've followed enough to find myself unwittingly pulled into the whole Hollywood game/scene. I've never really "seen" it before.

I was thinking that, too, especially in the Amazon Blonde pics.

squallcloud said...

Damn, y'all are cold blooded. I went through a "get a job ya hobo!" phase but I live in Philly and the begging gets out of control plus I had to work shitty jobs (this was while in college) then damnit I wasn't giving up my chunk of change to somebody who didn't have to work. But the man is in a wheel chair. My goodness people! He could totally be faking though, so your probably right. Screw 'em.

anon 12:42, I had the same exact thinking. Still do. We all have stuff we don't like about our jobs, that's why I'm sequestered in my office typing this message when I should be balancing my budget or getting my receipts together, but seeing that video really made me feel bad. But then I'm probably just being emotional for hormonal reasons

He is smiling yay!

It seemed like Jake was going to give him money at first (he took out his wallet), but then the homeless man and the paparazzi started shouting at him like they wanted to make a charity photo op out of the whole thing. Then Jake got pissed off and put his wallet back in. But of course he realized the paps would make a big deal out of that, so he just gave him a buck and left looking pissed. I think he'd have given him more if the situation hadn't been such a set-up.

laura said...

just watched the video, aww poor Jake. I couldn't even imagine being followed like that all the time.

It was definitely a set up. That same "homeless guy" has done it with other celebrities in the past too. Like someone else said, Jake was more than happy to give money but then the guy started talking about getting the shot and making it look good and the paparazzi swooped in and Jake realized it was a set up. You can even see the moment of realization when he's looking back and forth between the guy and the cameras. Too bad he couldn't walk away without having the news get out and hide the truth by making it seem like he doesn't care about the homeless (when that's definitely not the case).

i agree too, because in the beginning he was smiling and in the end he was like pissed

He does look thinner. And i still feel sorry for him.Being famous does not mean you should be subjected to those low lifes! He is so tolerent and has great self control.I wouldn't have.Good on you Jake.

tet said...

Yes he looks thinner I think, but not in a bad way...and on top of it, if his weight was really fluctuating as much as it would have to be going by all the speculation, he'd have to have an eating disorder or a messed up metabolism. I think a lot of it is just the cut of what he's wearing. When people were crying "he's chubby!" he would show up the next day in a more tailored shirt and look fine.

OTOH, he usually looks fuller in the face when he has the beard, and here he doesn't; plus, looking at his neck and adam's apple, he really does look like he has less actual body fat.

It's all a big waiting game, eh?

But then I'm probably just being emotional for hormonal reasons

I'd actually enjoy taking my hormones out and shooting them. Over these last few days, especially. Hormones + Jake = a bad scene.

And I wrote my first post just before hurrying out to work - I wanted to clarify that while I agree with 12:42 in as much as Jake's a smart, savvy Hollywood guy that can hold his own (clearly, he can for the most part), I don't agree that he should be forced to say, "oh well, I'm not going to be able to carry on with acting, on to another profession for me". I mean, he could act, but the celebrity becomes part and parcel of it. He courts some of it and more or less chooses how in the spotlight he wants to be, but he's dragged out there, too. Anyway, I'm blithering here and stating the obvious.

I do think he's just fine on pretty well every level. You have to think, we're seeing still shots of him every few days and analysing them. Analysis is part of the human experience and make-up, but analysing one human being like this isn't normal for the studied or the studiers, lol. But then, without that there'd be no Jake Watch. ;) It's all perspective, keeping hold of the big picture and, as tet said, a big waiting game.

Anonymous said...

I like him chunkier myself.I do think it depends on what you wear though. To me he looks gorgeous all the time.I like him as a person as well as what he looks like. He's funny, intelligent, and damn sexy!

I've seen that homeless guy in pictures with mariah carey.
