Playing the beautiful and brave character of Jack Twist, and his Oscar nomination and BAFTA award for his stunning performance. BBM has made such an impression on me, it has become one of my all-time favorite, classic movies.

3. He could probably play any role well...but I prefer drama. Maybe a thriller - I'm interested in seeing Zodiac. Or maybe a sensitive superhero like Spiderman??? Spiderman stole my heart - "With great power comes great responsibility. This is my gift;it is my curse....." *sigh* Anything that shows his depth as an actor. After seeing his performance in BBM, he's headed for serious actor territory.

4. Restauranteur/chef from what I have heard - he seems very creative, so anything that is in a creative area. It's wonderful that he as causes he believes in so an activist.

5. And I'm not just saying this because I haven't seen many of his other movies (BBM introduced me to the beauty and acting talent that is Jake). The role he picked was wonderful and he really made it his own. He made Jack a very intense character, very real, just...just so amazing. Words can't describe how much.

2. Same as above.

3. Gosh, anything! I love Jake in all roles. He's done lots of 'different' sort of movies, he's been in action movies (i.e. Day After Tomorrow), so really I dunno what I could suggest for him next. Anything he chooses, I'll enjoy.

4. Perhaps a musician, or a director.

5. Even if he has made mistakes, it doesn't matter anymore, because as of BBM, is career is picking itself up wonderfully!

6. Mmm, icecream...and Jake...and licking...oh gosh! *hyperventilating* I think maybe...mint something, like someone else said before. Perhaps Chocolate. His performance seemed effortless and flawless, as he brought the character to life. Jack was vulnerable and masculine, and Jake nailed the emotions and the accent.

2. Biggest achievement in Jake's career so far?

I guess the Oscar nomination and BAFTA win. In my head, it's simply being in Brokeback Mountain and helping bring such an amazing movie to life. Nothing tops that.

3. What would you like to see him try next?

Well, Zodiac. I'm hoping it's good. Maybe he could do a Baz Luhrmann movie... I hope he doesn't go too mainstream though because he's had some great roles in independent features.

4. If Jake weren't an actor...

I think he'd be a carpenter or a chef considering that I've heard he's interested in cooking and carpentry.

5. Any mistakes made?

Bubble Boy, Kirsten Dunst ;)
I heard someone on IMDB say that he said Jack Twist was a straight man (who fell in love with a man). I thought that was ridiculous and irritating. He's gay or bi, obviously not straight.

6. Coffee because he seems to be a coffee fiend. Swirls of chocolate fuge because it remind me of all of that daek brown hair of his--ALL of it. lol And the blueberries because of his eyes. What can I say? I'm literal.

There is a green tea flavor of ice cream?!?

Loved the professional dog walking comment!

I love Joe Nast too. How did that movie fall through the cracks? It really is a great little movie.

The Good Girl vs Lovely & Amazing
I always think of these two toegether; I guess because of the older woman element. I'm not thrilled with either movie. They both have their weaknesses. But I prefer Jake in L&A. He seems more real in that movie. I find the GG to be a big charicature; same with his performance. Actually I thought the whole movie was too weird, but not in a good way like Donnie Darko. It was like they were trying too hard to be different.

Love the comment about watching the movie and screaming at Ennis, "HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU DENY JACK TWIST ANYTHING!" LOL (I paraphrased that because I'm too lazy to go back and find the actual quote--sorry!)

OH, and laughed out loud and scared the cats at 'porn, gay porn.'

I agree with everyone that said that Jake somehow rises above whatever crappy movie he does. He's that good.

Roles I'd like to see him in:

The story of the American Jewish runner who was not allowed to run at the '36 Olympics.
http://www.jewishsightseeing.com/germany/berlin/olympic_stadium/19990702-glickman.htm

Since seeing him with the beard so much it's made me think of roles he could be growing it for, and I thought of the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald(subject of the Gordon Lightfoot song). I've read a bit about it, and I think it would be a great movie. Of course it would be sad as hell. Also, it's probably too soon after "The Perfect Storm."

Finally, I'd love to see him in some kinky movie with Peter and Maggie. A cross between Kinsey and Secretary. And no, I wouldn't want to see ANY sexual contact between Jake and Maggie, but I'd LOVE to see some action between Jake and Peter. Yes, I'm a perv!HephaistionLohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16743169068784265351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25249736.post-1147992482963323082006-05-18T23:48:00.000+01:002006-05-18T23:48:00.000+01:001. He left Columbia, after all, which would have meant a life plunged in books and constantly meeting deadlines for written work. That doesn't mean that I don't think Jake's smart, or that he's not bookish (he has to be astute about written material, because he's constantly perusing it, choosing his parts) -- just that his talents lie elsewhere. He would have had a great presence at the podium when giving readings, though. I hope he does some dramatic readings at paying venues, as actors do from time to time.

No, I think that, had Jake not been born into a rich bohemian family, surrounded by creatives, who support creative career choices, he would have ended up as some kind of salesman. ("Brokeback Mountain" is again -- as it so often is -- weirdly prescient in making him a tractor salesman.) I can imagine all the ladies in a small town (& half the men) lining up to buy a new car from him ... as long as he promises a test-drive with them ;-).

Face it, the guy was destined to be an actor. He's a performer, he's charismatic, he's even a little hammy, he thrives on attention, he seeks to elicit an emotional reaction from an audience. No way he could have been anything else but a performer. Except maybe a controversial liberal politician or the front man for a band -- those are about the only other remotely feasible career choices I'd see for Jake G.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25249736.post-1147942571149171432006-05-18T09:56:00.000+01:002006-05-18T09:56:00.000+01:00Got a pm, here I am.Cool Survey...1. Having gone back and watched the rest of his catalog, it is quite apparent how much he has matured.

2. Of course, being nominated for Best Supporting Actor at both the BAFTAS and the Oscars. Favourite Jake role and why?

Just one? Well BBM, of course. He nailed that part. I think he did as great a job as Heath. His performance was more subtle than Heath's, and I think his role was just as difficult if not more difficult to nail.

JARHEAD and OCTOBER SKY are close seconds. The first because it was so different from his other parts. Before this he had the rap of always playing the sensitive indie film guy. This film showed he could play against type.

In OCTOBER SKY he was able to take a role with the possibility of cliche and make it something inspiring in a different way, not just an after school special way. Shows he had the chops even at a young age.

2. Biggest achievement in Jake's career so far?

BBM It's a career defining performance--for both the audience and the studios. It showed he has the acting chops and that he can be a sexy romantic co-lead.

3. What would you like to see him try next?

He seems to love theater, so I'd like for him to be able to do what he loves.

As for film, I think I'd like to see him do a romantic comedy. I think he has a real good sense of humor & would have good comic timing in a film--and we already know he has the sex appeal. :)

But to be honest, I think that at this point, I'd see him in anything.

4. If Jake hadn't become an actor what do you think he'd have done instead?

Chef. He grew up with restaurtant people, he has a friend who is a chef and he has said that his idea of porn is gourmet magazines. LOL

5. Any mistakes made, IYHO?

Should not have gone to Columbia at all so that we could have 2 more years worth of Jake films.

Just kidding. lol

No serious answer for this one. :)

6. From the moment he leaned on that truck, looking at Ennis, with that black hat and that dark blue shirt...

2. Achievement - Oscar nom/BAFTA.

3. Next role - playing a bad guy, but being able to keep the audience's sympathy, which makes a role much more believable for me.

4. I think Jake would have taken a while to find himself. He seems to be going through that process as a young man/actor now anyway. I can see him turning his hand to any number of creative things before he settled. However, he would never have been an accountant.

5. Mistakes - In roles? Not really. However, full-fledged, Mountain Man beard is a big mistake, in my book. Sorry to all you Dill fans!

6. Ice cream - How about Heath Bar Crunch? Really, though I can't equate Jake as ice cream. I can equate him with a slowly braised, toothsome veal shank or a rich, wine-drenched beef stew with all that lovely, thick gravy...I'll stop now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25249736.post-1147906490036806652006-05-17T23:54:00.000+01:002006-05-17T23:54:00.000+01:00Lmao at this thread!Spandex, jake should try you n...Lmao at this thread!
Spandex, jake should try you next? But continue to act in movies is good enough

4. Become a writer maybe?

5. Proof. Totally miscast.
