Quote of the Week: Time Travel Edition

"That half-conscious state when dreams feel completely real is fascinating to me. At the end of the film, you ask: is it a dream or isn't it? Is this a dream that we're living now? Those questions are really interesting because the unconscious hasn't really been explored yet. People think there's not much more to discover, but there is - there's this fourth dimension, or whatever it is."

Jake "You Just Blew My Mind" Gyllenhaal, on Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

source

In other news, it would appear that a certain friend of ours has landed himself at number 27 on Radar's list of "The world's most overrated people, places, and things" (or "nouns" to those of us in less wordy circles). Unfortunately, I was too busy putting up a new Jake in '08 banner to adequately respond to this bizarre list in this magazine that no one has ever heard of, so Jake Watch is pretending we don't know anything about it.

(Note: We should have said a long time ago that the Jake in '08 MySpace profile borrows heavily from the profiles of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards. We are most appreciative of their unintended aid in all this. It's nothing personal, but the Republican profiles are mostly too boring to parody.)

Fucking brilliant update, PG! I knew you could do magic with that raw material! He's even standing in the same pose in front of the same silly tree. I love you.

BG, they have a confusing interpretation of the word "overrated." I actually sort of agree with their list, or would, if I exposed myself to as much media as most people do.

ambrahollywood, my immediate reaction on reading the Gawker thing was to be pissed that they were ripping off Jake Watch. I actually attempted to leave a comment on that post the first day it was up, using my login from Consumerist, but it never did stick. Fortunately, we have the real deal here, where Jake is teased and laughed at but no one is ever treated meanly. (I did not appreciate their comment about Maggie, but I realize I may be oversensitive.)

Yup; Jake, you're a real thinker there!

Cherita, I actually agreed with the list in many ways myself (yes, even Jake's inclusion based on their "calculations") but I thought I'd be risking life and limb to say so on the main page. :) So I thought frosty indignity was the best tactic (and, let's face it, I could never fully condone anything that knocks Jim from "The Office" anyway).

I read the Gawker thing and...what? No! Nice try, but they're doing it all wrong...

Hilarious Quote PG!:D
Perfect example of Gyllenbabble...

If those Radar People are saying that Jake is over-gossipped yes, I agree but if the term overrated means (and my elementary English suggested so)over-extimated I definitely disagree.
BTW who cares...:)

Who the eff is Radar magazine?? I didn't disagree with a few of them either, but they blew it on the most overrated human being on the face of this planet...

LINDSEY LOHAN. I get nauseated just typing her name.

I just don't get it.

I guess Jake as always had a thing for Hanes t-shirts. Good, I love him in them. I don't appreciate that comment about Maggie either. ARE THEY BLIND!!!

I didn't think anything about the Gawker thing was amusing. I didn't appreciate anything about it. Unlike GW, which has humor the Gawker thing fell very flat, imo.

PG, once again a agreat post!

I don't think the gawker thing was meant to be funny... I think it was obviously written by someone who went to uni with Jake or knew someone who went to uni with him. It smacks of authentiicty. I'm very impressed by the make over Mr Gyllenhaal seems to have managed!

^^^ If he did go to college with Jake, smells of jealousy to me.

Jake overrated as per Radar? I agree with Xenia that he is over gossiped about,I rather read about his next projects.

The Gawker sounds like it was someone that went to Columbia with Jake and is a bit jealous.

I don't mean to be blasphemous, but I don't quite get the Maggie G love. *Dodges sharp things thrown with great force*

Everyone: Be on the lookout for the October issue of Interview magazine. Jake is on the cover and he is interviewed by David Fincher!
