JAKE PROVES WILDLY UNPREDICTABLE

Walking across the street...while stroking his chin? Where did this chin stroking movement come from? Have we seen that before? Why is he doing that? Why did he add a new gesture to his walking repertoire without telling us? Will he be doing this more often now? Is this a new thing? Should I be concerned? Should I start stroking my chin while I'm walking?

Does his throat hurt? Does he need a throat lozenge? Oh my God, is he sick?! He's sick, isn't he?!! Is he going to be OK? Why isn't he in bed resting?! Should I send him a care package? Is it contagious? Is he contaminating the people around him? Why would he do that? What if he's not sick? What if he's just thinking? Has he always stroked his chin while thinking? Or is it a stress thing? Is he stressed? Why is he stressed? Why isn't he at home resting if he's stressed? Why isn't he communicating his needs better?!

Too much. Too much!! The erratic behavior of Jake Gyllenhaal has Jake Watch on the edge of our seats. We can only sit back and wonder just what we could possibly see from him next!

More at IHJ!

YOU ARE TOO FUNNY, I WAS THINKING EXACTLY THE SAME THING AS I SAW THAT PIC. I THINK HE'S HARD AT WORK THINKING ABOUT HIS NEXT PROJECT OR WHERE TO FIND THE NEXT COFFEE SHOP OR POSSIBLY NEEDING TO USE THE POTTY? HE'S SO DAMN CUTE!

Perhaps he's building up for the next show of his general amazing sportiness ... walking, stroking his chin and holding things AT THE SAME TIME!!! - taking multi tasking to new, extreme and dangerous levels - I predict we'll be seeing it an an Olympic event in 2012.

I have a sore throat myself at the moment, and if Jake would like to spare a few moments to indulge in a mutual spot of throat stroking I could obliged ;)

According to various body language websites, rubbing your chin indicates decisiveness. Apparently, it also means the chin rubber is very interested in whatever the other person is saying.

There's also a rabbit body language website, which describes what 'chinning' indicates: "rabbits' chins contains scent glands, so they rub their chin on items to indicate that they belong to them. Same as a cat rubbing its forehead on people and objects." That probably isn't relavent here...

I think he's checking to make sure there's nothing left over from lunch stuck in his beard. Or he's trying to figure out how much it's grown since that morning. Or he's deciding whether he should bother to shave tomorrow. Or he caught Noah Baumbach staring at the facial hair and now feels self-conscious. Or he could just be hatching an evil plan to lead the paparazzo into an uncovered manhole up the street.

Really, that was too funny. I'm in a somewhat muted mood right now thanks to migraine meds, but if I weren't, I'd be in trouble for laughing in the office. I love it.

HA! I'm sorry but the thought of Jake rubbing his own scent onto his hand so that he knows it belongs to him is just hilarious. That's so JakeWatch!Jake. ;D

I saw some reactions to these pictures yesterday and I just couldn't believe people were freaking out about who he was with when there were OBVIOUSLY far more important matters to focus on!

Other rabbit body language, which doesn't apply to Jake, but (dear Lord) I wish it did:
Sniffing — May be annoyed or just talking to you
Circling your feet — Usually indicates sexual behavior. He's in love.
Playing — Rabbits like to push or toss objects around. They may also race madly around the house, jump on and off of the couch and act like a kid that's had too much sugar.
Don't touch my stuff — Rabbits often are displeased when you rearrange their cage as you clean. They are creatures of habit and when they get things just right, they like them to remain that way.
Stomping — He's frightened, mad or trying to tell you that there's danger (in his opinion).
Bunny hop/dance — A sign of pure joy & happiness!

^^^Interesting, bmg. I know that the thumping behavior also applies to gerbils (because I used to have two myself). Personally, I think the chances are pretty good that some of these do apply to Jake. Particularly the playing and the no-touchy thing, but who knows? Maybe he circles, too. I can definitely picture that.

I think he's trying to pull the scruff off because as my mom so delicately pointed out, "It's not doing him any favors." Awesome post. This one pretty much sums up why I must check Jake Watch daily.

Gyllenhaal, Maguire eye 'Brothers'
Duo in talks for Sheridan remake
By TATIANA SIEGEL
Gyllenhaal

Maguire

Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal are in negotiations to star in Jim Sheridan's "Brothers" for Relativity Media.
The film, a remake of Susanne Bier's Danish-language war drama, centers on a man (Maguire) who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his black-sheep brother (Gyllenhaal) cares for his wife and child.

Bier's film, which was released in 2004, stars Connie Nielsen, Ulrich Thomsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas.

In the remake, which David Benioff is writing, Gyllenhaal would play the younger brother and Maguire the older one.

"Brothers" is scheduled to begin shooting in early November.

Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh is producing alongside Michael De Luca and Joni Sighvatsson.

Relativity most recently produced the Russell Crowe-Christian Bale starrer "3:10 to Yuma," which recently opened at No. 1.

Gyllenhaal, whose credits include "Zodiac" and "Brokeback Mountain," most recently starred in "Rendition," which unspooled last week at the Toronto Film Festival.

Maguire is hot on the heels of Sony's "Spider-Man 3" and also recently appeared in "The Good German."

LOL Woahoah there PG! Chillax!! He just looks thoughtful to me...! Or possible mulling over some dilemma, like what to have for lunch for instance.

I am slightly disappointed to notice his choice of trainers :-\ Do Nike still use sweat shops...? More to the point does anyone care...? Is this even an appropriate place/moment to mention it...?

Inquirying minds want to know!!! Love your 'internal' dialogue when faced with a new Gyllenmove.
