Emergency Post on Account of Us Being Right

Oh my God, it's Jake, unposed, and caught in the extremely natural act of strumming a guitar at sundown in the mountains. It's like an ad for people to visit East Tennessee...with Jake! I wonder if he went to Dollywood? It also confirms what we've been saying for the past four months, which is that Jake is going to quit acting and pursue a career a music. He really doesn't do much of anything without telling us. In fact, we're with him all the time. In fact, I took this picture.*

The picture accompanies an interview in which Jake divulges that he is hard at work on his first album. In keeping with the patriotic resolve that inspired his bid for the White House, his CD will feature several covers of acoustic hits from the Civil War era. Listen...I can hear the soft, lilting chords of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" from here...
It's amazing how Interview magazine was able to capture all these secret parts of Jake's life that no one knew about.

Except for us.

Thanks to heddaparsons for the heads up on the picture (courtesy of Interview magazine)! This post is best enjoyed with the Battle Hymn of the Republic link open in a separate tab.

*No, I didn't.

I am delighted Jake is taking up music!!! Thanks for this scoop PG! I really can't believe for a minute that he'd abandon his acting career, though. At the very least his videos will have a plot...like Maroon 5's Wake Up call? When Adam Levine shoots somebody??? Anyway. I think Battle Hymn of the Republic is exactly the right song for Jake. What I want to know is: are they gonna introduce this song with a lot of fanfare on the 4th of July with Jake sort of coming out on this huge platform shaped like the Empire State bldg. with him at the top, with sparklers and fireworks??
It could work. (I get lots of great ideas. I wish somebody would use them.)

Word has it that he does a mean cover of John Ashcroft’s "Let the Eagle Soar". He’s also trying out other patriotic songs by Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith.

Gorgeous picture! But does anyone else think that the picture looks a little airbrushed? To me he looks a little too tanned, and glowing (i mean hes always glowing but that just looks TOO glowing) He looks like something from madam taussads...

It's almost like they've tried to make it look like a painting - like those ones when he was standing in bushes during Cannes.

BTW, Jake's apparently on Jonathan Ross on 12th October - coloured me over excited

Sam, to me all of the photos in the Interview series look somewhat soft, like a filter has been applied (either on the lens or digitally). I think it's more noticeable on this one because it's got direct light on Jake. I'm not a photographer, though, so what do I know? :P It's cute as hell. Jake is holding a musical instrument and laughing. Who's gonna complain?

Anyone know when the Democratic National Convention takes place? I think that will be Jake's big sparklers and fireworks moment, as bobbyanna suggested. Ah, just found it: August 25-28, 2008 in Denver. I 'd bet my hat on it. If I had a hat.

^^^ The softening filters or whatever they used totally make those mountains look like the Smokey's. He walked right into that one.

Birdgirl, how could I forget about "Let the Eagle Soar"?!? Just what I needed! It's officially the new profile song for Jake in '08...it does some weird looping thing but there was only one version available. I'd been trying to come up with a good replacement for the "Tom Deleted Me" song because I thought if we left it up too long, it'd make us sound bitter (which I am, but that's beside the point :)).

bobbyanna, I am sewing sequins on his Uncle Sam outfit as we speak. Although I guess I don't have to hurry since it's going to be forever and a day until the Democratic National Convention...

He looks like he is posing for the cover of a 60's folk album cover, LOL!!!

Wow!!! See. I never even considered his outfit. PG. I know you have a lot of time. And I have total confidence in your fashion sense. Just remember. Jake is a classic. So...less is more.

I'm just hugging myself with anticipation. This might be better then the Superbowl! Love the music choices too.

Do you think that somewhere out there is a tape of the Interview Photoshoot???I'd illto know what song Jake is singing.

BirdGirl said...

I thought it was a little John Denverish. HA HA!!! Still very sexy.

As far as the DNC goes, someone needs to light a fire under those asses. He would be the perfect man for the job.

Cherita said...

OMG, Hedda! You're right! Give him a blonde wig and big eyeglasses and he's John Denver. Well, I guess that would be a 70s album, wouldn't it?

He looks damn good in that picute. wow wow wow.

I wanna go to Dollywood!

I thought you might like to know that a couple of sites I have read seem to think Jake might really be making an album because of this post.Shows that some peple will believe anything. Haha.

^^^ That's totally the best news I've heard all day.

Hey PG!

This post has made ONTD! Somebody not familiar with the concept of satire, I guess.

Anonymous said...

LOL!! Only one or two psters on ONTD actually got the post. Thanks PG, this is one of the funniest posts yet!

Cherita said...

I can't believe it. Here's another one. That is just too fucking funny! Prophecy Girl and the Genesis of a Completely Unsubstantiated Rumor. People kill me. PG, congratulations. This is solid gold.

Ok PG, what's next for Jake in that wicked mind of yours? Ok you've got Jake making an album ( make him bump Britney Spears of the top of ITunes download chart!!)

Ok next, he wins a Grammy?? That would be the perfect set up for him to win in November 2008

And another one!

http://thegossipzone.blogspot.com/2007/09/jake-to-put-out-album.html

Are some bloggers really that dense?? Did they actually read the post?? LOL!!! Brilliant post BTW PG. Hee.

BirdGirl said...

Yeah Cherita you are right, John Denver would be the 70's.

It hilarious that you actually started a rumor PG. Never underestimated the stupidity of people in large groups. :)

Becky Heineke said...

OH MY GOD!! I can't believe I left for a few hours and came back to this! I am so proud of myself! I have started a completely ridiculous internet rumor about Jake! It wasn't even a very good post, either. Of all things for people to fall for!

The Gossip Zone one seems to have been taken down, but the other two are still up and I can't BELIEVE that half the people on ONTD were acting like it was real. Man, if anyone finds any more, please post them. I think I woke up the neighbors laughing so hard. :D

Anonymous said...

LOL. If you want to start more rumors... on the Dave Cullen Forum in the Planet Heath section, it's been pointed out that the sweater that Jake has on in the cover picture on Interview magazine looks like it is Heath Ledger's. There are a couple of pictures for comparison.

Cherita said...

^^^Actually my first thought when we saw the version of the cover shot that showed those unraveling shoulders was that it looked like Jake was shopping in Heath's closet. The torn or unraveling sweater seems to be a trademark of his. :) Not as much as stripes, though.
