2007 JAKE WATCH OSCAR COVERAGE

Yeah, there is no Oscar coverage. We're boycotting, because we hold grudges like that. But let us know if Jake shows up! Or if hell freezes over and someone wins an award for portraying a fictional character.

Hear hear!!

At the BAFTAs - yet again - two impersonators won.

No doubt the Oscars will be similarly impressed with Her Majesty and Idi Amin....*rolls eyes*

Vanity Fair usually has a live cam for their Oscar Party at their website. VF and Elton John host Oscar watching dinner parties and of course, the after parties. EJ's is his annual AIDS fundraiser. Anyway, lots of celebs who don't go to the OSCARS go to the veiwing parties. And of course everyone who was at the Oscars ends up there.

Jake isn't in L.A. With the weather in NY: Snowstorms, I bet he left for NY already, probably left on Saturday to play it safe.

No Jake. I agree, I don't think he's in LA. He's probably holed up in NYC for his marathon tv appearances this week.

However, saw Maggie & Peter on the red carpet, they both looked great. Then Maggie was on very shortly after it started, going over her previous presentation of the Science Oscars. She looked ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!! Very elegant and she did a wonderful job.

So far I think everyone expected Eddie Murphy to take the Best Supporting Actor prize so it was a surprise to everyone, I think, that Alan Arkin won for Little Miss Sunshine.

Most beautifully dressed women...Helen Mirren, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow.

For what it's worth... :)

this is slightly OT..... but I watched "Sherrybaby" today, and I think Maggie was robbed. She so deserved an Oscar nomination for that movie. She and her brother are such brave actors...... they have the self confidence to take on risky roles, and totally commit themselves.

BIG surprise....

Jennifer Hudson just won Best Supporting Actress for Dreamgirls...

*Yawn*

BTW, couple of observations...

Kirsten Dunst totally looks like crap tonight, and showed up with someone I think is her brother. Glad Jake's not there, at least he won't be going home with her after one of the Oscar parties like he did last year...maybe I shouldn't say that, but I hope he's finally moved on.

While I'm not a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, she does look fab tonight and is smiling a lot. She seems to be very happy.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are a no-show tonight, I think.

Ellen is doing a fabulous job as host! She's relaxed and funny.

Eva Green is on now presenting...

If Reese and Peter can make to the Oscars, why not Jake???

Plus, good friends with Ellen - come on!

I too am boycotting the awards.

OK. I watched it. Very little of the sublime, quite a bit of the ridiculous.A lack of cohesion in the production and momnets of incoherence in the writing. I thought Ellen was mostly wonderful. I thought it was inappropraite for Seinfeld to use the Oscar cast to audition. And Jack Black and Will Farrell, as much as I luv 'em both should have saved the routine for SNL.

I thought Ann Hathaway's gown was amazingly, extravagantly gorgeous. It looked very vintage. It was very delicate white lace with black velvet. She should be added to the list. I do like Emily Blunt. She's dear! We have no way to know whether Jake ever was in California. The Defamer sightings are often fakes. I only believe them when it can be verified another way.

Is it really feasible or sensible to fly from North Africa to LA than back to NYC? In less than 48 hours??
And the weather in the northeast is bad... :(

I thought the Dreamgirls medley was really good. Beyonce's dress for that segment was gorgeous.
What else is there to do except look at dresses and eat? There's no Jake. I hate being Jakeless. I hate it. It will be 24 hours until we see him.

If Jake went to LA a week ago, I could understand him being around. But flying in for 48 hours doesn't make sense. He probably went from Morocco to NYC. And I think there's usually a stop over at Heathrow or DeGaulle. We're talkin about 11 hours anyway you slice it.

I saw Kirsten Dunst adjusting her bothers tie and fussing with his jacket when they arrived at the awards and all I seem to think is I'm so happy she and Jake aren't together.

I didn't think she looked as pretty as she usually does. I thought Maggie looked amazing. She had a very elegant dress and looked amazing in it.

Jake was missed, but I'm thrilled we'll be seeing him for an entire week.

When Kirsten cam out with Toby Macguire to present, I thought she looked awful!!! She looked tired and older and washed out. Circles under her eyes! Not at all attractive. And I didn't like her dress at all.

Come on guys, give Jake a break! He's in NY for Zodiac promo, and he really doesn't have a reason to go to the Oscars this year! And like someone said, it's not sensible to fly from Morocco to LA to NY... We'll be getting our fair share of Jake goodies all this week, so chill dudes. ;)

Anonymous said...

you said it Cina! :) We are going to be OD'ing on Jakey starting in less than 24 hours, and fer sure all you non-North Americans will get to see the appearances in a very timely fashion thanks to those wonderful Agent-friendlies over at the sister site. Just think how tired our boy will be by the end of the week..... poor baby!

Anonymous said...

You´re right Cina.
And I hadn´t him expected to be there. Spared me watching a boring, 4 hour long show.....

Because of the different time zones the next days will be strenuous for us Europeans.....getting up too early, watching and downloading the late night shows, working, watching and downloading the morning shows, sleeping, getting up too early...:-))

Yeah, it's exhausting being a JW agent, isn't it? But it's aaaalll worth it! :p

Once I learned he wasn't a presenter, I never expected Jake to be at the Oscars. So I wasn't at all disappointed. After that Defamer sighting, I did wonder if he was in LA at all and I thought we might see him at some of the parties. Part of me was hoping, bcz we have people there, that he would be in LA. But given the winter weather situation, I hope he is comfortable holed up in NYC so we can see him on TV!

Jake G does everything right.

A very interesting article from Newsweek/MNSBC
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17300067/

^^^The above article is very complementary of Jake, however there is one glaring inaccuracy.

The author states that Jake had a "dalliance" with Kirsten Dunst. I'd say a relationship of more than 2 years, living together, "promise rings", buying a dog together...constitutes more than a "dalliance", IMO.

It is obvious that Jake was serious about Kirsten and would have married her eventually if they hadn't broken up. I think the author of the article, while it seems he admires Jake, made light of his relationship with Kirsten and focused more on Jake's "ambiguous sexuality".

Grrrrrr......

Anonymous said...

3:00PM Agreed. There was nothing new in that article and he did say some nice things about him, but as you pointed out their relationship was more serious than a dalliance.

I guess this what happens when a writer wants to do a pice on an actor and they don't have accesss to them, so they cobble together stuff from other interviews. It doesn't help that this writer is a blogger.

Lol!
Some statistics are just worth knowing...

For every person that hates Jake, 2,803 people love him. Quite an achievement.

Anonymous said...

hehe, compared to Tom Cruise's 0.05 ratio that's quite an achievement.
The article is as shallow as it is complementary, but still a fine read.

Well at The Departed won!
YAY MARTY!

I was happy about the awards for Pan's Labrynth - well deserved.

I would of chosen Penelope Cruz and Ryan Gosling but thats just me.

Best Original Sceenplay to Lil Miss Sunshine and Best Adapted Screenplay for The Departed were my choices - so YAY!

4 hours - no 'yay' there. MAN! I just want to edit so much out - can't they take a cue from the BAFTAs?? Leave Ellen BUT get rid of the musical performances, get rid of any dance numbers, get rid of opening numbers - basically if you're singing cut it. Get rid of polictical segements - the films do a better job by themselves.

If they want to be so green then cut your power usage and cut the mutha some crap out!

2 hours TVs around the world don't have to be on - man..green my ass!

Anonymous said...

This year's Oscar pales and dulls a whole lot than last year's. I can't help wonder why. Do you guys feel the same? or is it just me? hmmm...

Anonymous said...

I agree that the musical numbers could have all been deleted!!! Another thing I noticed: Last year, it seemed as if the special video commentaries were well thought out and cohesive (good word!). This year, they weren't. They were slapped together. And the music in general really got on my nerves. It seemed intrusive and over the top pretentious, too loud. Jarring. I think generally, who ever produced this show, and I don't care if they've done others, ought to be fired. The camera work was even faulty at times. Actually, Ellen was the only good thing about the show. And watching the presenters and ellen trying to navigate the vast, very vast area of the stage, mean, it was ridiculous. Why do they need that much area. The stage was huge!It was just a no class crap event. Too bad. They trivialize themselves!

Jake was and is not going to be in LA this week. He flew direclty to NY for PR and then will fly back to Morocco from NY at the end of the week. No premiere on Thursday but lots of TV all week long...yeah! Info from source close to family...can't say more sorry.

Anonymous said...

That makes sense. I'm beginning to wonder if those L.A. sightings were BS. If he was in L.A. last week, wouldn't he have done some West Coast shows like Leno and Jimmy Kimmel instead of cramming a whole week of appearences on East Coast shows? Not even print interviews for the LA Times. Sounds exhausting but maybe necessary because he only has so much free time before flying back to Morocco. And about that Defamer sighting at the BH gallery last week: there were pics of the event on wireimages and there were no pics of Jake but there were pics of Lance and Kristen!!
