INTERNAL MEMO

Just a quick note for all UK agents. Moonlight Mile starring Jake, Dustin Hoffman and a sheepskin coat will be airing tonight on BBC1 at 10.45pm.

Also, Prophecy Girl and I are getting quite unnerved at the state of security around the old Jake Watch Headquarters. Yesterday we found the back door to the top secret genetic cloning research lab kicked in and this morning I couldn't find the gin for my cornflakes. If anyone sees Lt. Dan, tell him we want a word.

Ahhh, love the new banner!

Was hoping some of the stylized "host pics" would show up on the Internet to be downloaded, and now JW has one of their own.

Nice!

PHEW!! Glad I saw this in time, almost forgot. It's ok though, only 10 mins in and Jakes hair still looks dodgy.

They never ever show that film on TV in the US!!! I mean, I don't remember when they did. They show Proof and Jarhead and BBM on premium fairly often. The show DD on cable a lot. The show The GG and OS and TDAT. Even Lovely and Amazing. But not this and not Highway. Same thing with Heath. 10 Things is on all the time. A Knights Tale, BBM, The Patriot. Rarely do you see Four Feathers. And he looked hot as hell in Four Feathers.

Oh yes, please clone a Jake for each of us!!!

And I agree with anon 11:27 - totally unfair that they never show Moonlight Mile here!

I was going to suggest using that pic for your banner - yay! :oD The whole set is just gorgeous... I've got the one with the stereo as my background right now.

Okay, so about 'And I Am Telling You'... the best quality version I found was here - www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmG2gBAcN-8&eurl=

I actually had a feeling that Jake would do drag, but I was in no way prepared for the Dreamgirls parody... I'm going back and forth between amused and disturbed, lol!

Thank you to VeeVeeVee for staying up to upload the clips - very much appreciated! :o)

I watched midnight mile from about half way in only just saw your post...

frankly a bit confused .... this seems to be terminal for me.

I saw Last King of Scotland in the cinema this evening perhaps its just all to much for my tired little brain.

OT: There are a few pics of Jake going to the Saturday Night Live after party over on IHJ!

Lol, I just heard the original track by Jennifer Hudson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McH134UFbHA)
and it really enhanced my enjoyment of Jake's parody!

Does anyone know the significance of the cut and colour of the dress? Dreamgirls isn't out in Australia yet so does anyone have any thoughts on which aspects of Jennifer Hudson's performance Jake was trying to bring out? Any thoughts welcome! :o)

Ha, found the real jacket behind the knock off he was wearing last night in the bicycle / Jersey Girls skit. Apparently it's a Nike Performance - Livestrong jacket which has Lance's signature color and design on it.

Hey girl friday,

The green jacket "frank o'connor" wore last night looks awfully similar to the jacket Chris wore when they went grocery shopping.

in fact, i only now realised that the post sounds really serious despite the humour, and i hope that nothing too bad is happening to you girls and to JW HQ.

take care and don't worry!

if you see someone breaking into HQ, scream GREMLIN! and run!
no need for heroism :)

seriously, i hope it's ok.

I'm also delighted by the banner. Those "Saturday Night Live" portraits are so distinctive-looking. Meant to look like tabloid photos with hand-coloring added, sort of like Andy Warhol's portraits. I'd like to see the complete set somewhere.

ElusiveMiss, I think Jake's gown just alludes to the general style of dress worn by the Supremes (excuse me, the Dreams, as they are called in the movie): Glamorous, glittery, somewhat formal-looking, less overtly sexual than most singers wear now. The 60s girl groups used to look like they were going to the prom, with the long evening gloves & heels & wigs. Also, the designers seem to have deliberately cut the gown like a wifebeater t-shirt to show off those biceps & Jake's very male, testosterone-infused physique. Appears to me that he's not supposed to "pass" as a woman, he's supposed to look like a guy very obviously in drag. Toward the end of the song, when the backup girls are crooning behind him, Jake really "gets" the hand gestures & movements used by Hudson in the movie and by all practitioners of that performance style. That choreography has become just as important as hitting all the notes. The gestures are sort of generic, though, and not particularly emblematic of Effie.

(Says Nice Anonymous, the only one in her group on Christmas Day who saw "Dreamgirls" & wasn't completely enraptured -- though she liked it well enough.)

The complete set is on IHJ in the SNL screen captures. I've already downloaded them all to my computer. They are gorgeous and the closeups nicely highlight Jake's beautiful eyes.

Dear Nice Anonymous,
Thanks for the analysis! I was far from thrilled about Dreamgirls, but recent events have made me willing to overlook the fact that it stars Beyonce- I just hope I don't start laughing when that particular song starts to play! ;o)
*goes off to watch the clip again*

Anyone interested in seeing The Supremes need only go to YouTube and bring them up. Very "campy." They did look like prom queens. BTW: Am discovering...very slowly...that I cannot watch certain Jake films without Anneka's reviews ringing in the background.Certainly not OS or TDAT. Problem is, even tho she has reviewed others, I can only imagine what she'd say and there it is in my brain! When do we get another Anneka???

Anonymous said...

I meant she has "not" reviewed others as yet. sorry.

I saw Dreamgirls too and I thought that it was just Ok. Hudson and Murphy were the best things in it. Jake's performance on SNL was more fun IMO! BTW, I love the new banner!

BTW, talk about "all over the Internet."

As of this moment, a YouTube clip of Jake singing has had over 230,000 viewings

http://www.youtube.com/browse?s=mp&t=t&c=0&l=

It appears to be the "most viewed" clip today.
