THE SUNDAY PROJECT

So we never really got to the bottom of Jake's mysterious tattoo, did we? All I can say is that whilst I can appreciate a tattoo, I can only appreciate a certain kind of tattoo and an inscription of Ye Olde English up the forearm is not going to make me say, 'Wow, that's beautiful. Is it significant or were just really drunk in Singapore?'

If Jake is going get inked we obviously need to verify and approve any tampering with the goods. So let's collect our minds together, have a pow-wow and thrash out what skin art would be allowed by the lore of Jake Watch. Afterall, it is the most holy of edicts and even the MIB must abide by it.

And how fabulous is the art today? Oh stop, you're making me blush!

OOh! I like the Donnie Darko one! I freaking love that film, although I get a sense that it is not Jakey's favourite.

I'm still sticked on the idea that Jake is not a tattooed guy prototype, because maybe a tattoo would make him lose an inch of his ambiguity.

Perhaps he'd get an owl tattoo, since for a while there he seemed to like t-shirts with owls on them. (While we're contemplating slogans, I've got to ask: Has the t-shirt with "Obey the Puggle" on it made its landing in the U.S. yet?)

Jake is so beautiful ... I don't want just any sort of meaningless, run-of-the mill graffiti scribbled over his young skin.

Also, although that "British by Birth" tattoo is displayed on pale skin, perhaps because it's intricate & this brings out all the details better, it would be even cooler & would have even wider implications if worn by someone of color. (Jake's not tan enough yet to qualify.)

Based on the BAFTAs, Jake would be "British by acclamation."

the sea turtle is strangely entrancing... haha. i love the donnie darko one tho-- maybe a small version with a small frank pic plus the numbers? i like the idea of jake getting something small and personal, that we can barely see.

kokodee, jake's always spoken very fondly of donnie darko-- he seems very proud of it, and it is the movie that put him on the map. it may not be his favorite in the sense that jake's a fwd looking guy and wants his teen roles in the past, but much like his "first child" (heh, i'm thinking atticus), i think it will always hold a special place in his heart. bbm has been important to a lot of ppl in a way that can't be compared of course, but let's not forget that donnie darko has as well, even if in a different way.

I choose the British one!! It would make absolutely no sense and for that reason, it would be brilliant. By the way, ha ha! Nice descriptions!

See, you all wish you were English now, just so you could get that tattoo.

Personally I prefer the sea turtle. But on Jake my choice would be to see my name tattooed somewhere on him...

;-D

Oh, I don't doubt that at all. All his films mean something to him, even bubble boy because he gives so much to his roles. I meant favourite in terms of his involvement and what he got out of the experience of making the films, based on interviews I've read.

My feeling is that film is probably Jarhead. Its the one he called the closest to his own persona and he said that the director was the first person to recognise his spontaneity and pretty much allowed him to do his own thing as a result.

The style I like the most is the sea turtle, really cool. But I feel that if he ever got a tattoo it would probably be some buddhist inscription

I concur, but Jakey looks as much english as Catherine zeta jones looks welsh...
Perhaps the tatoo can be *donohoeised* ...Irish via a few guinesses(Remember those set of pic's with ang at some pre party? a few drinks and jake can become anything...)

Jennifer Aniston, being interviewed ...
Subject of "The Good Girl" comes up, and she speaks about her character, here's a quote:

"That's when she (Justine) meets sweet Jake Gyllenhaal's character."

On American Movie Classics channel now.

JW is so boring lately. Sorry guys but I have to say it.

amerita said...

I don't think boring but quiet... but for the last week there was nothing to watch! Jake has disappeared from the radar... Paps were left in the dust. And we too!
But I have to say I am happy for Jake that when he really wants he can find a way to disappear and do whatever he wants...

Thing is, when there is no Jake news JW should have Jake news. It's the very purpose of having access to classified data. The regular features that bpb originally introduced were not always based on fresh pics, so why not come back to this solution when our momentum is on the low?

I have people tell me I'm boring all the time, except I'm not even talking to them?
Go figure? "Ya gets what you pay for?"

Does boring mean..not conflicting?Peaceful?A warm and funny place?

Back OT,I chose the Know your rights tattoo.I like writing as a tat and especially if it has political or social meaning.I think he's the kind of guy who would write smth significant for himself and other people to see.
Brits, with the British one..have you secretly made one for yourself and try to convince Jake to make one too,and make of them some weird sort of wedding rings? I must say,you fooled us!

The Bearded Lady said...

Yes, Mrs. Dalloway,
I understand what you are saying.
But I don't believe one should use one's body as some sort of "circus attraction!"

Leave advertising to Madison Ave., and my remote, which can instantly mute all of it!

lil bit of news on maggie-- pretty much a fluff piece, nothing we didn't know, but seeing as how JW has "baby name game" of our own re: the sarsgaard-gyllenbaby, thought this was cute:

The baby-name game

We spoke a little about why so many celebs give their kids zany names.

"Many people give their children unusual names, but when you're a celebrity they print them in the newspaper," she said. (Personal favorite: Shannyn Sossamon's kid Audio Science Clayton.)

Speaking of which, is there a name yet for the little tyke-to-be?

"Like I'm going to tell you. Nice try."

couldn't open the link. BTW: I know we're supposed to focus on tattoos, but I'm feeling so distracted and have such terrific withdrawal symptoms I can't concentrate!!!!I want my Jake fix!!!! You'd think that since we haven't heard or seen anything at all for days and days, I would get more detached...but the opposite is happening! I miss Jakey something fierce. I mean, you have no idea how bad it gets!!!

Yes I heard that just a few minutes ago, he was only 44 years old. He was stung in the heart by a sting ray.

Usually people get a tattoo to express a symbol/idea/slogan/statement printed on their skin. Jake would be defining in that tattoing choice "something" specific about his persona.

I've just been assuming that Jake is spending the three-day weekend on Martha's Vineyard -- where they've probably been having unseasonably cool, rainy and very windy days, if their weather's anything like it is here, just a little further south on the East Coast. So it's been gray hoodie weather for Jake -- probably with the inevitable cargo shorts & some outstanding examples from his spectacular sneaker collection. Maybe he's been hanging out with friends & family. Maybe he's been cooking, showing off the latest dishes he's learned. Maybe he's also been doing some networking & business on the side, given the other people who hang out on Martha's Vineyard. Hope he's enjoying himself as much as I've been enjoying myself, on one of those very few blessed Mondays when I don't have to log onto the office network.
