POST SECRET GRAND FINALE

Now prophecygirl and I are going to spend days, maybe weeks, possibly even 2 hours 25 minutes catergorising ALL the Jake Secrets and then they will live happily ever after under 'Projects'. 'Cos it was one hell of a project. If you still want to send in secrets then please do!

I smiled at this one, but I sniffled a little, too.

You go, Jake fan!

Has to be a favorite of mine! Also makes me realise that no matter what age you are we can all drool over topless Jake photos...don't see many of those anymore!

Off topic, but look at Maggie's pretty dress:

Loving the secret! Very sweet.

That is a very pretty dress Maggie is wearing. She does have that beautiful pregnancy glow. I thought she looked beautiful in the IHJ Mona Lisa Smile premiere pics too. And what a sweet brother she has. Jake feeding you tiramisu - if that isn't the stuff dreams are made of, I don't know what is! ;-)

You're right - age is really just a number. There are young-at-heart people who have lived a long time, and there are older-than-their time younger people. And the day I can't enjoy a good looking man is the day I'm a dead woman!

You can't believe how happy I was to see this card. I am 60 and I thought I was the only one my age who thinks Jake is wonderful. I love this site!!!!!!!

I'm actually enjoying myself more as I get older. What do they say? A woman is like a fine wine...

Awww, that's so sweet. This just became my second favorite Jake Secret (the first one being the one about Poppa G). ;)

Why at the age of 62 do I TORTURE myself looking at this picture? Because it reminds me that I am alive ...

Yes, sweet sentiment. But it also reminds me that the likelihood of someone as beautiful as Jake (inside and out) ever wanting to hold me, love me, claim me as his own is plain non-existent. And when you've been divorced and alone for over a decade, with fifty looming not far off, and the facial lines seem to increase daily, and the body sags and becomes less and less co-operative while the spirit remains lusty and alive, well you know what that kind of a reminder of being alive does to me? It plain fucking HURTS!!!!

Sorry, just venting .... maybe I should just give up looking at Jake pix ... too depressing when I have to leave the computer and face up to dreary reality again.

But for those who do grieve the loss of youth and beauty, once the fire of grief has burnt out, you're either left with a cold, dead heart OR a purifed heart, strengthened and with all the dross removed.

The hell of it is living through the burning process and let me tell you, those menopausal fires burn fierce ... :-)

Thanks for that cool quote. The old boy knew a thing or two.

mpom -- That is one of my favorites, and I've been thinking of it a lot lately with yet another birthday coming up. Don't know that my advanced age will ever stop my ogling Jake pics, though! Thanks.

anon, 2:26, there's hope!!! I, too am on the "wrong" side of 50. Vitamins, exercise and weight control. Lots of water, plenty of sleep and no red meat. Take a collagen supplement you can buy at the health store. Will all this get you Jake? No. But you'll look great, feel much better and it "Keeps hope alive!!!" Getting out and hanging around younger people helps, too.

I agree -

Every stage of life holds something wonderful to look forward to. So what if some of us are no longer 25 - we had our day in the sun and now it's off to new horizons. Be your healthy best you can be and you will find people and men will love you for who you really are now, and not only for the package you come in. :-)

I really had to smile at this secret. I'm 48 yo and know exactly how you feel! The oh so pleasurable and incredible torture that looking at Jakey G. brings (especially sans one of his pretty shirts) makes one really feel ALIVE!!!!

Anonymous said...

Ladies,

While I agree we should age gracefully - trust me; we don't, after the stroke of midnight on an advanced birthday, just wake up the next morning and have to start listening to elevator music and wear sensible shoes! Forget it. Life is waaaaaaaaay to short to listen to dull music and to wear boring shoes. :-)

Anonymous said...

Sistah, you got that right! ;-)

I don't know what "aging gracefully" means. I don't intend to age at all. "Old" is a state of mind. It's when we stop learning and growing and when we let our fears rule us instead of mastering our fears. It's when we lose touch with our imagination and our creativity. It's when we stop taking risks, rolling the dice...as it were. I know people in their 30's who are "old." So, I don't in tend to get old. Period. And I intend that my poor body will be taxed to the limits of its endurance to keep up with me. My role models are Susan Srandon and Sophia Loren. And if Jakey wants to be my boy toy for a minute, I'll consider it...LOL!

I am 47! I actually act sillier now than I did when I was 27.

I'm in my 40s now and ditto!! When I hang out here and laugh hysterically at BPBs wonderful posts, my teens think I'm losing it. When I told them I ordered a JW t-shirt, well!! Eyes bugging out, mouths hanging open in horror, wondering how to NOT be seen with a mom wearing a JW t-shirt (oh, how easy it is to embarrass the young...)

Right now Jake is one of the things that does it for me and I will enjoy him as long as it lasts. I call it admiring God's work. And God did a magnificent job with Jake!

I SO agree with this!! And teens or no teens, you can bet I'll be wearing my t-shirt ... to bed, to gym and round the house, at the very least! :-)

it makes me cry but I love it

Last Thursday I went out and had my hairdresser give me a spiked haircut. No more old lady doo. And I had her color it dark red. Great fun. And yes, I am 60+.

The most difficult part of aging for me is being invisible. I really think it's ferrimones going away or something. I just know that men my age are not looking for me. They are looking for the younger women 40ish.

Young men, like our Jake here, are great to look at but I raised two kids and two husbands, I am really not about to raise another of either at this late date. Too exhausting.

For some reason my post went twice. Odd. Maybe it is the storm we are having now

I love this secret - and this picture of Jake! How can it be torture to look at? It's pure pleasure.

I'm in my late 40's too - and Susan Sarandon is also my role model. She's gorgeous.

I'm 36 and I too was wooed by a very handsome 'toy boy' 12 years younger (lol - I never refer to him as that!). He looked like Elvis on the outside, but he was like Holden Worther on the inside! Now he's in rehab and I have to consciously remind myself when he rings me... dont go there sista! When I saw The Good Girl earlier this year it blew me away.

"Playing with Jake" the mind boggles.

I love this site. You all are great people. Very real. And the humor makes me LOL.

It does help to know you are not alone. We seem to share a bit more than admiration of Jake.

I'm no doubt a bit late to comment again here, but I, too, love this site. I laugh myself silly here -- yes, I talk to my 'puter, too.

Age is a funny thing. I never remember my own until my birthday rolls around and then I wonder how did that happen?? The upcoming one will be my 61st, but I'm still 40 and always will be in my mind -- that was the year that I let go of a bunch of crap and really started enjoying myself. Thank gawd!

Fortunately I work with a bunch of much younger folks, and I love it. It's true; they do help keep me young.
