OOO, VOTING! MY FAVOURITE DEMOCRATIC ACTIVITY!

I saw you all mentioning which film you'd like Anneka to review next and I thought why not vote on it and pressurise her into doing some frickin' work?

I'm afraid Highway must be sidelined for now because neither I nor Anneka have it on DVD. Er, come to think of it I don't think either of us have Brokeback Mountain on DVD either...

Since Brokeback seems to be out of the picture I have to vote for my second favourite The Good Girl!

only1annabel said...

Well I've voted for Brokeback as I'm damn sure it would be a good review but I too would settle for The Good Girl as I love it! Come to think of it I'd watch anything with Jake in it!

JoyceDavenport said...

The Good Girl has so much potential as a subject- please to see it well in the lead at the moment.

Has everyone checked out the amazing artwork I did of Anneka? It's under 'Jake' and 'His Films'.

Nothing Really Matters said...

I had no idea Anneka could surf!

I voted Donnie Darko! But i think you should buy Brokeback Mountain. I got a feeling that would be soo funny!

I’ve been toying around lately with the mumbly bits in BBM thinking of an award for the best mumbled line in BBM. (For the record I will say I like Heath's work heaps - see Two Hands) There were such classic moments in BBM like Heath's first line “…Anus”. I mean “Ennis”. It just sets the whole theme of the film straight up. And what about this gem, “Mmm”. But I lost interest in this exercise after the ‘love scene’ when I identified the best line of the BBM mumblefest when he mumbles “What are you doing?”

I then harkened back that this film was the most difficult to watch in the theatre surrounded by an audience. The love scene in particular brought an extraordinary reaction; the first being a bunch of giggly young girls (and boys) who just would not shut up. The second experience was a little more sublime and saw me sharing the theatre with a fat guy who, at every awkward loving moment between Jake and Heath on screen, would proceed to fart. Urgh. Not pretty. But he must have had a good time.

Thank the goddess for home DVD.

Why not hire what you wanna review?

cina said...

Glad to se TGG in the lead! :-)

LMFAO!! OMG, what a f*cking nightmare!! Passing gas out of awkward nervousness, perhaps? LOL

"I had no idea Anneka could surf!"

Me neither! I mean, I have trouble walking sometimes.

The only video shop in my vicinity has closed it's doors. This is why Wales is rubbish and should be stricken from all maps.

Kendra said...

I voted for "The good girl", it's the second voted after BBM. If The good girl is chosen, it will need good amounts of Anneka's humour.

The Bearded Lady said...

It's a good idea about the Anneka home map.
The disgruntled film makers, and offend fans will no exactly where to go.
You should supply an address to send protests too!
Anneka, wear dark glasses and grow a beard...you might still again entry to your local theater.
I will support Joyce and Cina's wishes(lovely ladies)
...as for Pussy she pulled the rug out from under me yesterday by saying quote:
"she's really old so maybe she gets things wrong!" ....
Well since I have things so wrong your on your own Puss!

britpopbaby said...

Anneka, you'll have to go to Woolies and buy it. I'm sure it's on sale by now.

Dumbo said...

I voted for Bubble Boy, although I would want it to be a review of the DVD commentary.

I love The Good Girl, so I would be more than happy if it wins.
BBM would probably make a great review too. An Annektatorship were she tells us what we are going to read while we stand in the gruel line, would probably be better than these democratic generosities for indecisive people like me.

britpopbaby said...

Anneka is not decisive enough to have her own 'tatorship, I'm afriad Dumbo.

She takes 20 minutes in the supermarket trying to decide whether to get a small tin of sweetcorn or a bigger one.

Me on the otherhand...

Prophecy Girl said...

NRM, I voted Bubble Boy. Sorry!! She'll get around to them all eventually...I hope. Can I vote again? Looks like we're being beaten by the Brokeback crew anyway, although I have to shame brits and anneka for neither one of you having the world's greatest gay cowboy movie!!! Seriously. What the hell?

The Bearded Lady said...

I think voters might be confused and are voting for their favorite film.
Instead of one for Anneka to disassemble...
It's the "Florida debacle" all over again....
Please read the instructions carefully.

britpopbaby said...

I don't like such tradegy to be kept in my TV cabinet.

Can I ask why Moonlight Mile has been left out? Did I miss something?

Brokeback Mountain is finally going to be released here at the end of September and apparently Belgium and The Netherlands are going to have a Special Edition as well. As soon as I have found out what that entails, I will let you guys know.

britpopbaby said...

^Haven't got in on DVD and blogflux only let me have five options...the fuckers.

Simon Agent 002 said...

Why can I vote multiple times like most blog polls?
Brit, I think you need to tamper with the results.
I can't corrupt this polling system!
This polling company would never be allowed to do business in the US!

nice anonymous said...

I've voted for "Bubble Boy" as well, since I still feel a little protective about "Brokeback Mountain," after all the jokes & satires made of it. I've seen it enacted by cartoon bunnies and in Lego dioramas, so that would be difficult to top, anyway.

Plus that one-line plot summary you folks keep repeating about the "dirty whore" in another "Bubble Boy" situation always makes me laugh.

Anonymous said...

I have ALL his movies on DVD. Ya'll are welcome anytime .....

Prophecy Girl said...

OK, I voted again. Sorry. I had to represent both my homies, Donnie and Jimmy. Either one is fine with me. Actually it doesn't really matter. Any movie that Anneka wants to review, I will fully support her. It's not like we have any bad movies in the mix. :D

smurfette said...

i voted BB (though i agree with dumbo that a review of the commentary track would be even better). but i could see moonlight mile being a really good review. highway sounds like a good subject too, but i haven't seen it! i think the good girl would be hilarious, so i'd be happy if that won. i dunno about brokeback-- it's so sad... i know anneka's humor has been in good fun and good taste, but like nice said, the movie's been subject of so many jokes already...

good question, simon-- brit, can we vote multiple times>

phoebe said...

This was a tricky one, but I finally decided to go with "The Good Girl". I am, too, hoping that we will get a kick-ass review of ALL the films mentioned, eventually!

I don't like such tradegy to be kept in my TV cabinet.

But brits, it's like sooo worth it!! If you should let ONE tragic story into your cabinet, it has to be this one!

Nothing Really Matters said...

Well done PG! I can't vote again! ;-(

The Bearded Lady said...

PG, Has pull in case you haven't realize by now.

Prophecy Girl said...

I also have multiple computers in my office. *mwhahahaha*

PG you are so evil!

Prophecy Girl said...

TBL, I am Prophecy Girl. I can make all things happen! (Actually I've only got one computer option left and then I'll have to go to my bosses computer which might be awkward...but I will gladly spend my last vote for you!)

Prophecy Girl said...

Oh, shit! Now I'm conflicted!

Prophecy Girl said...

Alright, I'm stepping aside. No one shall know what I'm voting! Maybe it'll be The Good Girl! You never know! You'll never drag it out of me!

The Bearded Lady said...

Voted Bubble Boy? thank U :)

You did well Prophecy Girl!
dont conflict your pretty head over it for one second!

Voted Bubble Boy. I am still not ready to vote BBM. Maybe at a later date. This story first, as I read it before I saw the movie, or even knew the movie would be made, touched my heart. It still saddens me for some reason. I rarely watch past "Girls don't fall in love with fun." I think it's the writing, Annie Proulx did a phenominal job.

Prophecy Girl said...

I only voted twice! I didn't even go and vote again when I said I was going to vote again even though everyone thought I did vote again...the upping of the numbers was really just the masses speaking! I swear! And I didn't even vote for the same movie both times and I even disclosed my votes. I am sorry if I have shamed the democracy of the system. I understand if I need to be punished.

I vote for bubbleboy.
Mainly because I'm dying for someone to comment on the 'sporting wood' scene.

kokodee said...

And the map is so cool. Someone voted BBM all the way from asia? Cool!

Simon Agent 002 said...

My new favorite is the vulture vs. bubble scene...

Vulture even has a cameo at the end of the film.

That Asia vote was me, and a accident I meant to hit BB
don't ask how I have access to asian computers...

The Bearded Lady said...

Yes this map is cool...I'm right over my home state and I don't see a vote?
I gave my vote to Cina and Joyce this morning because it didn't look like BB had a chance at that time...
I see Pussy's Darko vote was cancel out by a neighbor's of her's Bubble Boy
Well done unknown voter! :)

Prophecy Girl said...

OK, I'm the moron who only just now saw the map function. Someone voted from south Florida! Aren't they in the middle of Ernesto about now? Now THAT is devotion my friends! Kudos to our Florida allies!!

The Bearded Lady said...

Brit, Your'e plans for world domination haven't touched South America as of yet.
Perhaps a tribute to that great, talented, beloved lady of film Carmen Miranda is in order?

PS, PG check CT as I don't see my vote...zoom in it should be there? If you can't see it ...take the gloves off!

phoebe said...

Ohmigod, I didn't see the map at first either. It's like..Big Brother is watching..or something.. LOL

Prophecy Girl said...

TBL, I found one CT vote. I'm guessing it's you. But where is the Memphis vote?! Does this thing reset or something? I am not represented! Also, erm, I thought of another computer I could use. Two unused votes! What are they worth, people? Actually, probably nothing at this point. I'm having a moral dilemma now. What to do?!

The Bearded Lady said...

@11:28 AM Yes PG the world could be coming to an end but I must get my Jake Watch vote registered...
Florida was burned once...they know the power of just one Supreme Court justice vote.

I can have access to a dozen or more computers to vote. Any wants to buy vote for their favorite? I'm open to offers.

The Bearded Lady said...

PG,
I'm directly over Tennessee...I see one vote, are you sure you picked BB?

Prophecy Girl said...

Dude, that's so not me! It's some crazy person in Nashville! I used to know tons of people who lived in Nashville, but now they've all gone, and I can't even claim influence there. I've decided it's too risky to vote here in the office anyway...but I've got two more computers at home.

The Bearded Lady said...

PG,
That's not my yellow vote near the border with Mass..
I would be much closer to the Rt2 symbol middle eastern part of the state.. it would be a brown TGG vote ...I wish I could change to BB, Damn.

Did you vote BBM?...that's all I see in Tenn...

Nothing Really Matters said...

This Pussy is very sad!

Anonymous said...

Cripes! It's was Bubble Boy and now it's all Brokeback, is someone rigging the poll? Listen, my offer to stuff the ballot box for a fee still stands, but only if it is for my choice Bubble Boy, OK?

Simon Agent 002 said...

I don't understand this at all...I can't see my vote , PG's is missing and now BBM ahead?
This is what the JW public wants BBM parody?
Oh dear I thought I was protective over BB, but saw the humor potental in it.
But BBM is like playing with fire...
Anneka I'd call in sick for duty on that one.
Make excuses...DVD player ate your last copy ...or something....

only1annabel said...

Oh m y god that little map thing is awesome! I found my home town woo! Although my vote does not show on there which is annoying as I was second to vote-first to vote Brokeback! I'm never first!

Simon Agent 002 said...

Anneka,
I would start preparing a new persona and user name, just incase BBM wins.
Maybe employ Haloscan? or a sudden site shutdown..because it will be a riot ...
and you know people will show up who were not around for this historic vote ...

and will try to tear you a new one!

God be with you my child.

kokodee said...

No! No! No!!!
You can't let brokeback win, not just yet. Perhaps after we have all adjusted to anneka's wavelenght, in terms of her satirical but witty overview. Bubble boy would be perfect, can't you see???...and then jarhead/good girl/donnie darko/bbm. In that order. Please!

Michael said...

My favorite is Brokeback so I of course had to vote for that one.

Michael said...

This is what I get for not actually reading the thing before voting. Oops. I thought I was just voting for my favorite movie. Not sure I want to see a satire commentary on BBM yet either so if possible I'd have to change my vote to maybe Donnie Darko.

bubblegirl said...

I love Brokeback and it would be really funny! Second choice Bubble Boy! Jimmy is my hero!

dani said...

I voted for Bubble Boy because it seems like the perfect choice. It is already funny and we know Anneka will make it even more so.

I want Brokeback to be last because it's the closest to my heart and I also feel protective of it.

Then again, the fun wouldn't be made at Jake and Heath like the things those mean spirited people on the outside say.

Nothing is funny about the movie, but there are situations that can be amusingly retold by the right person and that certainly is Anneka.

So whichever one wins will be fine. All of the choices are great!

See Britpop I told you your dad was right with his 4th box party. Threat of violence and offers to vote rig. There hasn't been this much controversy on the blog since- well the last time.

I agree BTW that a BBM review is playing with fire. Oh and just in case you want to risk it Tesco has it on special offer at the moment 9 quid- and if you buy three of their special offers you get one free. I gave in and got it yesterday.

Simon Agent 002 said...

Anneka,

Leave Brits to face the fallout.
After all she placed it among the options.

Since there's a "map" of the votes it means it is an IP-controlled vote. If you want to rig it you have to spoof many IPs and vote with them.

Simon Agent 002 said...

^^That's beyond my comupter skills...but why is Prophecy Girl's and my vote missing from this map?
I think there are larger forces at work twisting the results of this poll...

Anonymous said...

I'm so totally speculating ;-) but if it is really monitored with IPs, then the points on the map are not users' addresses, but rather their servers'. Your server can be just in the building next door or a few miles away (or more for people using proxys, which is frequent for companies' internet accesses). This would explain why some people can't "see" themselves.

Anonymous said...

But given th enumber of votes, it is true that someone might me messing with blogflux ;-)

Aaww! Baby. I don't think that's the implication at all. (ok for some maybe..) A lot of regulars I'm sure have faith in you and anneka's writing abilities and sensitivity but I think others will need to get used to the tone, gradually.
But seeing as it has won, despite my passionate plea for the very underated bubble boy,(500 doallazz!!!) I can say I am looking forward to seeing how you pull it off.
