STRANGE COINCIDENCES IN HISTORY

101013350815
I was looking through the most recent pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal and Lance Armstrong in France and I ran across a photo taken while the two of them were discussing postmodern trends in the use of sunglasses as items of both convenience and fashionable necessity in the celebrity populace of developed nations. Either that, or they were talking about biking.

But then, I was struck by a strange feeling of deja vu. So I did a little research and sure enough! They WERE talking about biking! Jake had that SAME CONVERSATION with John Lennon exactly 40 years ago. Amazing! Apparently Lennon, too, was an avid follower of the Tour de France.

2006

1966

(This was a completely self-indulgent post on behalf of the author who is a Beatles fan and thought Jake slightly resembled John Lennon in the original picture. She would like to ask Jake why he chose to wear sunglasses inside because if he'd worn them outside, the lighting would have matched up so much better when she Photoshopped him in with John. Er, I mean, when she was cleaning the dust off on this historically valuable photograph.)

Pg, I've posted that first pic in my blog, too. Both seem so comrades in a naughty trip! I am a big fan of The Beatles, and more specifically of John Lennon.

They do look like they're up to no good, don't they? :) But it's all in Lance, because if you substitue John, it looks like they're having a serious conversation...probably while escaping hordes of hysterical teenaged girls.

In my pic I've added "Born to be wild", Jake has a slight "Easy Rider" Peter Fonda look. Can you imagine Jake as a member of The Fab Four? That would be too much!

Yes,i thought that too about looking like John Lennon. It's the glasses obviously, but good likeness with them on.

Love it, PG! :)

I think Jake should play JL in a movie!!!!

Then we would see yet another Jake character's demise.Don't think i can take anymore heartbreak.(sniff)

Lmao!!
Awesome photos! But I'm a (George) Harrison girl, rest his soul.
Maybe the movie should just focus on his years with Cynthia and especially Yoko, (i'm sure she'll approve JG's casting. Then those of us averse to JADFOS (jake dying on film syndrome)can still watch.
Any ideas on should play the love interests?

This is exactly the picture that caught my attention in that set!He does look like the 60's - 70's sex icons! The shirt, the hair, the mouth (ok,maybe not the mouth, but it's too damn good to leave it out), the glasses! John Lennon, be proud. There's a version of you out there and he's talented, too.

this is good PG :)

Damn, I had no idea Lennon looked that good in black and white. Maybe I should pay more attention to the Beatles, hmm.

Talking about the Beatles, I once - accidentally - stayed at some kind of a music hotel and they gave me the Beatles room...it was kinda cool in a weird way, having pictures of Beatles everywhere for three days.

That's reassuring news, joyce! It eases my mind to know that someone might be able to keep an eye on our man, and keep us updated!

prophecygirl - beautiful picture - awww - I think that is John in 1966 when all four of them still had the same hair and looked beautiful and before all the beards, moustaches and sideburns started showing up. Great photoshop. But I think the only real-live person Jake should ever play is John Kennedy Jr. The likeness is uncanny and I think JK Jr was also a beautiful soul. (And to be honest I don't really want to see a movie-made-for-TV about him).

Just noticed you put the year beneath the picture..! Well, good guess of mine but then I am a fan of the Beatles!

Our clever Ingmar is a guy, by the way, and those of us on 'lashes beleive he was born for this caper.

You should probably never stay at my house then. I'm a scary person in real life. ;)

Agent Davenport, excellent work! And don't worry, I haven't gotten to your climactic courtroom scene yet so there's plenty of time to work your name into the script.

And while we're on the subject of the Fab Four, I'm a Paul girl myself, although I have strong George tendencies. My mom's a John, though, so he definitely gets some love in our family. Poor Ringo, ironic, since he's the closest I've come to meeting a Beatle. I saw him at a casino and I was on the 4th row. He sang parts of "Don't Pass Me By" to me and it was one of my greatest moments.

Yeah, um, as a person whose cleaning closet is covered in pictures of The Clash, I really can't afford to call you scary... As far as Beatles goes, I like John the best - mainly because he was a fan of The Clash...ok, I'll stop now, I'm starting to sound pathetic.

And just so that I'm on topic at least once a month, I have a feeling a discussion between Lennon and Jake would've been....interesting. Jake might've learned quite a few....interesting things.

Oh and great job!

Edit: Didn't know Ingmar was a guys name-sorry! So Ingmar Bergman was the director and Ingrid was the actress- OK.

Correct. :-D

Joyce you deserve a weekend off. Have fun! And seeing as you have much experience in the way of Jake Watching, it's no surprise to me that you are well-known. ;)

I am officially on a three week vacation as from now! YAAAAY!!
I'm seriously considering taking a trip to France for some agent work.... ;-)

Hello joycedav, Anouska here - Ingmar is definitely a guy, though he sometimes dons a virtual crinoline to impersonate KD as Marie Antoinette, long story. We're all keeping our fingers crossed that he sees Jake.

Becky Heineke said...

Cina, baby, make it happen!!! :D

Question for Agent Davenport: Are there clubs near Lance's villa? I don't want Jakey to get hurt! Will Ingmar try to confiscate all the clubs, plz?
I have always loved John Lennon! George was always my second favorite. PG you're a genius. Love the way Jake and John look together.
Kindred spirits. Lance and Jake? Not so much.

Cina take a trip to france!

not sure if this has been mentioned since it's from a while back, but i just checked the imdb thread on zodiac reshoots, and this andrew (asoggy) guy had a really interesting blurb on there about jake and david fincher, etc. it responds to speculation about their relationship/head-butting, and has a cute story about jake falling asleep on a camera dolly. good stuff!

Nothing Really Matters said...

Okay i'll say it! I hate the beatles, please don't all stone me at once! Is anyone else with me!

Great picture by the way PG!

If David Fincher's head gets any bigger, he'll need construction tools to walk thru doorways.....

TBL, it was just 2, "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love." I thought "Real Love" was better (although the "Free As A Bird" music video was amazing and even won a Grammy)...the problem with the whole concept, in my mind was that they had only unreleased songs of John's to work with...and these were a little weak to begin with. "New" songs aside, I thought the Anthology concept as a whole was brilliant. The outtakes CD's, the TV special, the best-selling book. In 1995 the Beatles sold more albums than anyone else, and more albums than they ever did in any one year in the '60's. Not bad for a group that had been broken up for 25 years.

And nrm, I can forgive you only because I don't share your love of Madonna (sorry!). Although I must say that since almost all of latter pop music was sculpted by the innovations made by The Beatles, you can't hate them but only prefer others' music more. :) Alright, back to the actual subject matter of this blog... ;)

Where the hell is Jake today?! No news! AT ALL!! :(

cina said...

^^ LMAO!!!

I'm afraid the trip to France is more wishful thinking than a reality... But who knows...
When does Tour de France end?

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this picture, Prophecy Girl. These two famous males are linked in my mind, also. Whenever I see Jake's birthdate, I think of John Lennon's tragic death.

cina said...

Nice...summer...sun....clear-blue sea....beach-side villa....shirtless Jake.... and Cina... Yep. I'll hold on to that image for a while.

2nd photo is actually better with Jake than the first. He looks hungover in the first one. Why is it I'm really losing my love with Jake over this Armstrong thing? Is it just me or is Armstrong really - underneath it all - even with surviving cancer - a jerk? My love is waning - I think Armstrong is coming between Jake and I. blech. Where's Natalie Portman - get that girl to France STAT!!

JadziaDragonRider said...

No girls! Not even Natalie! Blech!
