QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"There are three things I'll never do again - eat Play-Doh, run with scissors and keep my ice-cube collection in a shoebox"
Jake Gyllenhaal, a space oddity.

The mind boggles, Jacob. The Play-Doh (mmm, green) and the scissors I can comprehend but the ice-cube collection is first class eccentricity. Did you not want to collect worms and frogs like the other boys? Surely if you've seen one ice-cube you've seen 'em all?

Huh? Is this you being creative again, honey, or is it an interview I never read?

Heeee! I wonder if he had different kinds? Round ones, round ones with holes, square ones, and the like?

LMAO Simon! Thank god you're alright though. Crazy kid...!

Ice-cube collection?? Yeah ok, whatever floats your boat Jake. LOL

As if he wasn't weird enough..

Speaking of weirdos, a friend's cat is used to take a leak in any interruptor she finds. The other day, an interruptor finally exploded. Lucky that cat the piss (can I say that?..) was not a continuous one..
Don't ask me what's the connection, I can only spot it in my mind.

I can't see that phrase, "Running With Scissors" without thinking of Augusten Burroughs' book. (Coming soon to a theatre near us, apparently.) Does anyone else imagine the young Jake as this talkative, slightly hyperactive kid who always sits way in the back of the classroom & makes faces & smart remarks & gets in trouble for making the other kids crack up laughing? But then gets away with it, because he's so charming with the teacher?

nice anon, jla and I had a similar conversation about Jake not long ago. It was the consensus that he gave his poor parents hell when he was growing up. Youngest child syndrome and all that!

(I'm citing the Speedo story as evidence!)

nice anonymous - yes!

I love this Jake, though, and hope he hasn't gone forever.

Play-doh smells nice so the temptation to eat it is pretty overwhelming. In my experience.

Ah, the infamous Speedo story!!! LMAO!!

I collected sticks as a child and removed the bark, soaked them in water, and neatly wrapped the finished products in paper towels. But Jake may have actually beat me in the "weird child" department. Well done.

When I was little I ate a candle because I thought it was cheese. I also neatly trimmed the whiskers off my cat (something I think many people did as kids) and temporarily impaired her feline agility.

Let's see ... I swallowed pennies all the time. But never any larger coins. Once, I also pushed a pussy willow bud up inside my nasal passages. The doctor in the emergency room was a recent immigrant from another country, and he did not understand when my parents told him what a pussy willow bud was. The nurses all came into the room, frantically trying to interpret.

In the end, nothing was done at the hospital & I believe the thing was ejected a few days later, when I sneezed very hard.

More reports from Theresa on the Dave Cullen boards about the Jake/Heath/Co. Farmers Market day (bottom of page). http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=28938c5cfbad1e1d45703072fa1a6b55&topic=9943.4560

Sounds really nice and she spoke to Heath and they had a great day! Also, a poster Karind1 posted about seeing "Zodiac/Chronicles" filming! http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=28938c5cfbad1e1d45703072fa1a6b55&topic=9943.4575

I don't know where to look for the postst! The links you gave only lead to the main page of the forum. I'm lost.

Anon 1:10pm here. Cina, okay, on this site instead of clicking on comments click on the time of this post from Britpopbaby. Then you will see all the comments but my links will be correct and you will get the pages. For some reason when you read posts in comment view links get cut off. Hope I am making sense, lol.

No Kate of Sweden, here is what Theresa said (in italics):

I talked to one of the eye witnesses last night. Someone who was around them almost the entire time and was very close and they say that the atmosphere with the blonde young lady was very flirty and very sweet.

I'm not insinuating a relationship, simply passing on the info given me. I've talked to them and that is what I was told. It doesn't mean anything. When I talked to Heath he was just thankful that they got to have a fun day. Said everyone was very respectful of them.

Also, here is Theresa's response to Karind1's Jake "Zodiac/Chronicles" sighting. She mentions how blue Jake's eyes are. *sigh*

Karen,

I just had to respond to your beautiful and eloquent post. First, I'm so happy for you. And they are almost the blue of the water in the caribbean. Seriously. Very clear and very blue blue. Once the shock wears off you may find that you remember afterall. It's a stunning thing the first time you meet an idol. I'm just thrilled for you.

And I want to thank you for everything else you said. Every word of it is just so completely true. They are just people trying to do their job. And we all have fantasies, we truly do but they, as you say are best left as fantasies. That's what makes them so very special. Thankyou again for everything you expressed here. As the mother of a movie and tv actress you don't know what your insight and the courage to speak it means to me.

Theresa

Here is Karind1's Jake "Zodiac/Chronicles" sighting:

i am home after going to watch part of the reshoot of zodiac/chronicles
I saw Jake-at one point was about 5 ft. away from him-saw boo radley too came out of Jakes trailer as Jake was going into it. I
was in shock---didn't even see his eyes..it was like a blur. His trailer wasn't at film site it was before I got to film site--it was in a park
then went to film site and
then watched him film same scene over and over and I could never quite make out color of his eyes. i was in owners office (of the store they were filming in) which was upstairs and all the action was downstairs and we looked thru a window at the filming-part of the window looking into store was open. could see fincher and the extras and the crew and of course jake. he was laughing with the crew-smiling, real affable, fanning himself by lifting his shirt up and down (no flesh) in between takes a couple of times (it was so hot and he had to wear jeans, white t shirt, denim shirt and a thing like blue parka)
he looked really like he was easy to direct. he didn't look real tall or real buff just like a normal man. looked like he was wearing same jeans he always wears.
his hair looks lighter in the front than it does the rest-almost like subtle highlights.
the couple words i heard his voice sounds the same/
i got up around 4am-unreal. one thing i did learn is that these people are just like us. human beings with a right to privacy. it really hit me today how they are just like you and me-and anyone running up to them or popping pics or any of that is truly awful. these actors and actresses are just like carpenters, painters, plumbers--anyone really wanting just to do a good job and have a good life. sometimes, we the people think they our ours because we feel like we know them--you know what i mean? and they deserve the right to live out their lives in private. i fully believe that now. i don't know why i did not think so before.
he is just like any normal person. at least he is to me now. sometimes fantasies are better left as fantasies. adrian was talking about that a while back. i believe him now--at least in my case. i hope jake has the best career, is happy with whomever he chooses as friends, lovers, dogs, but as far as my obsession-there is no need to have one anymore. I am 58 he is 25 and he is me and I am him as we all are. I learned a great lesson today. I wish I could have taken a picture but it was against the rules and the owner of the store had signed something that said there would be no pics. I wish I could have seen his eyes without being in shock...but I couldn't tell you what color blue they were if you tortured me. I am a pathetic witness. I thought of all of you almost the whole time I was there. I wanted to almost take notes so I wouldn't forget to tell you anything.
I hope he only has paps around him when he wants them to be. Or anyone else for that matter. I am glad I got to see this. In the scene I saw, he had no lines!! Just walked into a store from his car, had an expression on his face and walked back out of the store.
xxoo karin

You see. Now THIS is why I truly love Jake. Does anyone realize what courage it took for him to make and keep these resolutions???!!! While I've had similar proclivities, I have, alas, lacked the moral courage to even attepmt to promise to stop. In fact... I wish I knew how to quit... well, never mind...
