DAMN YOU GREENWICH MEAN TIME, DAMN YOU! AKA JAKE WINS A SHIT LOAD OF AWARDS AND BRITPOPBABY MISSES IT ALL

Pics removed.

Points britpopbaby would like to make:

1. He looks like the hottest little horndog EVER
2. Justin Timberlake really is quite the fug
3. Eva Mendes better have stopped touching him by now and vice versa
4. Those Popcorn Awards are really ugly - I hope Jake hides them in a cupboard
5. Is that a packet of Starburst under Jake's chair in the 2nd picture?
6. britpopbaby is disturbed to learn that the MTV Movies Awards will only be shown on MTV UK and not any terrestrial channels - maybe Anneka will record it for her
7. britpopbaby is very happy Jake won because he earnt it and all those other suckers didn't - except maybe Vince Vaughn.
8. britpopbaby likes referring to herself in the third person

Wow! No shades - keep it that way Jakesworth. Any idea when they'll be showing the awards in the UK? I'm sure someone will upload a video of it somewhere though

I think Eva's a little star struck.

I think Justin's a little star struck...

I agree on every point (esp no. 2, justin, go home to you 'talent vortex twat'..).. However I do not like the word horndog. (Pleaze use some other word...?)

Congrats Jake and Heath! And congrats to us who voted!
And congrats bpb that you finally found out ;)

kokodee said...

Well done jakeyboy.

winterbird said...

For a second, I thought Justin wanted to take Heath's place to re-enact...

I am disappointed that channel 4 won't get to show the awards (even a much-delayed one). I hope fans in US will give a hand and upload it on youtube for us poor folks in UK who can't afford cable TV...

britpopbaby said...

^It used to show it around late August but it didn't do last year. ???

Anonymous said...

It won't air until June 8 in U.S. Why they don't do these awards live? It would make it a bit more exciting.

rei said...

Im totally not informed- what awards did he win,I mean for what (best actor or sth)?

tankergirl said...

Woo Hoo!! This rules! I am so excited to wake up to this!! Best Performance AND Best Kiss!!
I was hoping for a kiss renactment, though.
Guess Heath couldn't make it. )=

CONGRATULATIONS JAKE!! You deserve it, Honey!

Anonymous said...

He and Heath won for best kiss and Jake won for best performance, beating out Reese Witherspoons. So Jake walked away with 2 awards!

Anonymous said...

wow...im so proud of him... he is so adorable...

Thesweetestone said...

Im so so so happy for him, he deserved it!!! Wow, he is so incredibly gorgeous, dont you think? Btw, whats that deal with justine?

Anonymous said...

Yes, I've heard it said somewhere that he's gorgeous.... I don't remember where it was tho.

Ivy said...

Jake looks as though he's filled out a little and, boy, does it suit him.

I can't stand Eva and I hope the little cheek kiss thing lasted all of half a second when accepting that award. God knows he doesn't need to end up getting flack for allowing a girl/guy kiss while accepting an award for a gay kiss.

Anonymous said...

Well better Eva than say Jessica! lol

kokodee said...

I love those sweat patches
*blush* It most have been blistering in hellay.

kokodee said...

Oh, and there's a small clip of his acceptance speech on BBC

Has our handsome boy got a touch of sunburn on his face, perhaps from his brief sojourn in the Hamptons? Jake, you need to read the SPF level on the label and apply liberally, to keep that wonderful skin in good shape.

The MTV Awards were well-deserved, but they are only half of what he should have gotten for his performance in "Brokeback Mountain." Namely, there's a little golden guy sitting in Clooney's curio cabinet right now, which did really should have gone home with someone else to commemorate the best supporting actor performance of 2005. And let's not even talk about the one on Paul Haggis' mantelpiece.

Jakey, I hope you revel in your kmoment with the two golden popcorn buckets. May many other awards join it in the coming years.

dangerous woman said...

Well done Jake.

Congratulations.

You deserve it.

Anonymous said...

Kokodee -thanks for the video head's up! He was so well spoken too!

phoebe said...

Yay! Congrats, Jakey!! Well deserved, indeed!

You're the BEST!

Prophecy Girl said...

Jake, you're gorgeous and wonderful and if I was in charge of the world, I would give you every award ever. I would also not give you a lame-ass packet of Starburst as compensation for coming to an awards show. Come on, MTV!!

britpopbaby said...

Thanks for the vid kokodee - I'll get it up!

Simon said...

First, thanks Prophecy Girl for a 14th spot on your list!. I'm touched (blotting a tear). By the way,he recieved more then a Starburst! Free surfing lessons was one of the items plus a bunch of cool electronics.

Nothing Really Matters said...

I think your right that has to be a packet of starburst! They always show it on channel 4, we could write and demand they screen it or we could buy the rights!

Anonymous said...

YAY! So glad for him and bbm.I'm also really glad that they didn't re-enact the kiss - it would have cheapened the film and bbm deserves better than that.

Anneka said...

Am I the only person who keeps refering to Starburst as their true identity, Opal Fruits? I kept offering people "Opal Fruits" in the pictures the other day and this little kid looked at me like I was cracked. I hate being old.

britpopbaby said...

By the way,he recieved more then a Starburst! Free surfing lessons was one of the items plus a bunch of cool electronics.

How do you know this? Apart from the fact you're Simon Cowell?

And Anneka, are you going to tape this for me or not?

Nothing Really Matters said...

Yes Anneka tape it for eveyone and then post out the DVD.

wtbgirl said...

Well, sad as I am that Jake left NYC (*sobbing*) I think he did the right thing by showing up to accept the 2 awards. Unfortunately now I am going to have to watch it. Oh well, if Jake's there, it's worth it. The power of DVR will allow me to fast forward through anything involving Jessica Simpson, or worse, any of those Laguna Beach chickies in attendance.

Simon Cowell said...

Well, naturally thru my vast hollywood contacts. I am the major force in the music industry. I'm surprised you didn't think of this.... Anyway if you search around the web you will find stories about the gift packages. The surfing lessons is a repeat gift from other years. I wonder if Jake was using his gift last year when he took some surfing lessons in Hawaii? He's never sent a card or any thank you after I sent him a gift tho. *sigh*

Prophecy Girl said...

No sweat, Simon. I do what I can. ;) I'm sorry you've received no sort of thankful recognition from Jake. I'm sure it just slipped his mind due to the vast and impressive schedule that comes with being the hottest man on earth. Hey, I'm surprised you weren't there last night. I mean, PERFECT opportunity to give us some inside info! Come on, man. You gotta work with us here!

Simon said...

I.... unlike say Ryan Seacrest, didn't want to steal the spotlight from Jake. This was clearly his night! But I did cheer him on at poolside by the tele. As I recall I jumped up and down like a game show contestant, go Jakey go!

Rip Van Winkle said...

I wish he won a razor.

Nothing Really Matters said...

Simon can i have a goodie bag?

Simon said...

Oh Nrm, but you are a "goodie bag" to me! ...seriously that Miss Jessica Simpson took all the leftover ones at the end of the night. so piggish of her uh?, she's really low rent!

Anneka said...

I no have the power for recording. My parents are rich enough for Sky Plus but too poor for a device to record off Sky Plus. I'll go and sit in a corner in shame at having failed Jake Watch. Might hit myself over the head a couple of times.

Anonymous said...

Don't fret someone will most likely put it on Youtube...again it not gonna be broadcast until the 8th here. So you and we will just have to wait ...sobs ...sobs.. at least you have the BBC clip that's more than I found here (just pics)

dalloway said...

Damn, he's gorgeous...And the MTV knows it, they put him in the first seats! Simon, next time please go after Jake! i'm sure you won't steal his spotlights! and don't forget to take a camera..

Chantelle said...

My Crap, is he not looking like the hottest damn shiz niz under the sun?? I am so glad Dill has become a permanent fixture - he looks so good in Gyllenwolf Mode.

s.c. said...

...hmm I'm hearing that Monty Python song "I'm a jumberjack"....

I am glad that Jake continues to be a dignified spokesman for "Brokeback Mountain," because the movie really deserves that kind of treatment. That one is gonna hold up for another 40 years. It's going to be taught in the film history classes. Jake's young self gazing after his lover, right after the dozy embrace, may even be the film clip that plays over his goddamn obituary one day. I'm glad that MTV paid tribute to it among all that other dreck.

Now Kirsten and Jake have something in common, the have both won the MTV Best Kiss award. Kirsten and Tobey in 2003 (Jake was in attendance)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZncwOdrhL4&search=jake%20gyllenhaal

and 2006 Jake and Heath. Good work guys. You really deserve it. Most convincing kiss I've ever seen on film.

Dani said...

I'm Dani. I posted a few days ago as a new person to the site who happens to be one of the over 40 year olds who love this man!Just want to say congrats to JAKE for the well deserved awards. What a guy to fly all he way back to LA instead of blowing it off - especially since it is an ugly award. But he realizes that it came from the hearts of his fans...Loved the sweat under the arms. I live outside of LA. It was a blazing hot day. But Jake could have been ringing with sweat and he'd still be fine as hell. I may be old enough to be his mother, but believe me that's the last thing on my mind when I look at him!

I'm licking the stamps at this very moment. It's clearly an emergency situation....a care package containing the following: Shaving Cream (Barbosol lime)... and disposable razor...the good ones with duel blades and a lubrication strip!

"Immediately following the TV premiere of the show on June 8th at 9pm ET/PT, fans will be able to experience "My Movie Awards" exclusively on movieawards.mtv.com. There users can re-experience the Awards in their own unique, customized way through MTV Overdrive which will have the show in bite- size on-demand segments. By creating a personalized highlight reel of the show, or simply watch it in its entirety on demand -- it's all up to the fans. Viewers will also be able to access exclusive footage not seen on-air including revealing backstage diaries from the night's celebrities, an in- depth look at the hottest red carpet fashions, interviews with the big winners and much more. In the end, Overdrive users will be encouraged to "remix" the show their own way by choosing their favorite material -- both from the show and exclusive Overdrive footage -- combining them to create their own Movie Awards playlist that they can save and forward to friends."

Ha! Now that you mention it, it's odd Seacrest didn't join the host of other celebs clamoring to touch our Jake last night.

Simon said...

I think in the eyes of MTV executives, somehow Ryan is considered un-cool. I don't know why this is? Where was he?...It's hard to keep track of Ryan's nightime doings.

Many heartfelt congratulations to both Jake and Heath..!!

Dani said...

To the anon who said that Brokeback Mountain will hold up for another 40 years. You are so right. This is really better than an Oscar for Jake - although that would have been good too. To go down in movie history, to be talked about for decades to come and long after he's gone as part of a true groundbreaking masterpiece. What could be better than that. I am so happy for him. He made the right decision. Heath may have gotten most of the acting praise from the media, but one smart reviewer pointed out that the movie would not even have been plausible without Jake's great performance. He made the whole film real. The stars were perfectly aligned for the making of this film. Perfect director, script, music and the now ledgendary acting team of Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger....Also need to say that I can't imagine there will ever be a better on screen kiss than the one they shared!

sunnyweather said...

OMG,the bearded lady, you're SO funny!!!I love you guys! I come here every day for my daily portion of good laugh and witty comments. And I'm so happy for Jakey. I hope that he's impressed by the extent of admiration and love which comes from his fans from all over the world.

S.C.G said...

Jake you are truly among the most talented actors i've seen. If it were up to me you'd be holding an Ocsar. I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way. I see you on the screen and I think of the actors and actress of the 50's Brando, Dean and (don't laugh) Monroe. I didn't know your name when, I 1st saw you (in Good Girl) but I made it a point to find out. And as i've seen more of your films..I enjoy each in it's own way. You're the common denominator. In public you've shown nothing but kindness, sensitivity, intelligence, charm,humor..and can I add? class. You are more loved then perhaps you can realize and not for a some photo shoot.(handsome as you are)it's you as a person that comes through, that is most impressive of all.

P.S please consider shaving uh?

Road trip everyone to anneka's parents house to watch MTV Movie Awards!

gummybug said...

Is that Starburst I see under Jake's chair? :-)

Congratulations, Jakey!

gummybug said...

P.S. I love the sexy, manly scruff. Leave it on, dammit!

Dani said...

I'm totally with gummybug about the sexy, manly scruff of Jake's facial hair as long as it doesn't get too long. I also prefer the hair on his head a little bit more messy like some lucky person just ran their fingers through it...

Best Kiss! Why, of course. The Kiss between Jake and Heath is one of the best in movie history (and better than most in real life)! These guys deserve every honor and recognition for what they created on screen in those few moments. That was some hot, smoking smooching.

Best Performance! Yes, the empathetic, expressive, talented, and versatile artist that he is, Jake aced it. The Jack Twist that Jake created in Brokeback Mountain is a character who shines as a beacon of hope and love and dreams and beauty and the importance of love over fear in our lives. Jake's performance as Jack has brought buckets of joy and passion to millions of people worldwide, and her deserves this MTV Award and much more.

I'm another over-40 female fan of Jake's, who recognizes what a truly valuable gift he is to the Movie Industry, to Hollywood, and to all of us who love his work and him.

Thanks, Mr. Gyllenhaal!

gummybug said...

Oh, I just realized. Is this the same shirt as the one he wore to that London press thing for Jarhead?

miffed67 said...

Man, it is SO gratifying to see Jake win awards for his amazing performances. I can't figure out why Hollyweird isn't falling at his feet, throwing every award they can muster at him! Congratulations, Jake! You SO deserve this and SO much more!

squallcloud said...

Jakey looked so handsom in his little gray button down and black pants. Nice beard too! I agree, all those handsy celebs need to keep the fuck away from our man!

I do find Eva Mendes cute so she is on my approved list of GFs if he's still in the market.

squallcloud said...

Oh do you see his long elegant fingers around Eva's waist resting mere millimeters from her butt? Lucky beyotch.

silver said...

He's resting his fingers on Eva's back... She's resting her... ahem.. property on Jake's.. er... front. LOL. I'm trying to figure out who's the happiest...

Smurfeyshmoo said...

At first I saw none of these pit-stains that everyone was raging about, and strangely enough I was disappointed. But then I spotted them and got all excited. For some reason I love the thought of sweaty Jake...hmm, why would I love that...?

beskyddaren said...

This is the best news to start my monday morning with!!!

Congratulations Jake and Heath!!!

Anneka said...

Nothing Really Matters - you are a genius! I'll get the kettle on and send out for scones.

Anonymous said...

squallcloud,

They're new, dark, tight jeans, not pants. It's really quite the revolution, both the color and the fit. Quite the trend in NY, not LA. Really, this may be lead to a JeanWatch of its own. Now if we could just get the boy to tuck in his shirts, we'd really see something.

Anonymous said...

Oh, at last! A pair of jeans that is worthy of the muscular Gyllenhaal thighs, the long legs and that inherited treasure, the Gyllenhaal ass. I feel I've nearly been repaid for all the voting that I did on your behalf, Jake. Please wear these tight jeans again. And again. I know you fall in love with certain pairs of jeans, and wear them until they become faded and probably odoriferous -- other posters here have compared them to dirty, unwinding mummy bandages -- so I hope this is one of those pairs of jeans that you like. Because I really like them.
